Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

6/24 Game Thread: Colorado Rockies at Toronto Blue Jays

Dustin McGowan has a no-no through six innings!

edit: Now through seven innings, as Torgen posted in the comments section.

edit: Eight innings. One left. He would join Dave Stieb as the only Blue Jays to throw a no-hitter.

edit: Didn't happen. It was broken up by Jeff Baker. It's a shame, too, since he had already overcome the strongest part of the order.

Toronto:

Wells
Zaun
Rios
Stairs
Thomas
Hill
Lind
Clark
McDonald

Colorado:

Taveras
Matsui
Holliday
Helton
Atkins
Hawpe
Tulowitzki
Baker
Torrealba

Wasn't Dave Stieb's
a perfect game? McGowan only walked one.

Stieb
No, he walked four batters that game. He also had two other starts in which he had no-hitters broken up with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the ninth. Ouch.

Bleh
A good start nonetheless. And at least people won't be able to call him the next Bud Smith or Jose Jimenez.

Jays of the Game
McGowan and Wells are the obvious choices. Thomas' 499th was nice in a historical sense, but he's actually behind McDonald and Clark for WPA this game.

aww
right there with you, Allan. Cannot believe I missed this game. We took Anna and our dog to Annapolis for the afternoon.

What a game by McGowan though, and the sweep is oh so sweet too, considering the Rox just swept the Yankees. .500!!!!!!!
