Jays Organization Player of the Day:
Luis Perez
Perez is a 24-year old pitcher currently in short season A ball with Auburn. He is still listed as an OFer as he was an international signing by the Oakland system where he was a batter.
As a batter he wasn't so bad actually. He hit for for a minor league average of .301 with a .788 OPS and went as far a High-A. He could have been moved to AA but alas that didn't happen.
For his first year in the minors as a pitcher he is doing pretty well. A 3.75 ERA with a K/9 of almost 9 he is intriguing. Unfortunately his age makes him unnoticed when it comes to prospects but who knows. He will probably get a chance at higher levels and I'll root for him since I just found he was converted from a position player.
