8/4 Minor League Summary

Jays Organizational Player of the Day:
Chosen by a random generator between Kreuzer, Godfrey, Zeskind, Santana, Scobee, Tolisano and Letko.

Victor Santana:

There is not much information about Victor Santana out there. When you do search for things it gives you a million results from other things. I guess I  may be stuck looking at statistics.

Santana can play all 3 outfield positions and is currently playing with Auburn as a 23 year old. He first started out as an international signing in 2003 as a 19-year old. However, he just made his first appearance in Rookie ball last year with Pulaski. He wasn't very good. Santana struck out one third of the time, didn't walk too much and didn't show much power. He hit for a .254 average. So far with Auburn he's hitting .258 with 5 home runs. He hasn't really improved other then showing the same ratios as a higher level.
He seems to be a long shot to make it past AA with that strikeout rate but he had a great night at the plate.

Syracuse  7, Ottawa 3
Jeremy Cummings pitched a shutout 5.2 IP with 6Ks with only 2 hits but did walk 4. On the hitting side the Chiefs mustered 16 hits. Chad Mottola and Russ Adams had 3 hits while 4 other Chiefs had two hits each. The JotG goes to Mottola who also had a double and scored 3 runs. Tons of potential candidates here.

Altoona 7, New Hampshire 3
Kyle Yates struggled mightily walking 3 with 11 hits in 4 2/3 IP. He only gave up 5 runs (3 earned) so he was lucky. I'll give the JotG to Rob Cosby who had 2 hits and has been the FCats best hitter recently.

Sarasota 10, Dunedin 8
Josh Kreuzer earns the JotG in the losing effort as he went 3 for 4 with a home run, double and 3 RBI, scored 3 times and walked once. Honorable mention goes to Luke Hetherington who had a homerun and 4 RBI.

Lansing 1, Peoria 0
Graham Godfrey pitched 6 shutout innings with 5Ks and only 2 hits given up with 3 walks he gets the JotG. Honorable mention goes to Scott Campbell for going 3 for 4 on the night.

Auburn 12, State College 11
I'll award the JotG to 3 hitters in this one. Matt Zeskind was 4 for 5 in the leadoff spot scoring 3 times and adding a home run with 2 RBI. Victor Santana was 3 for 4 with 2 runs, double, homerun and 4 RBI. Shawn Scobee was 2 for 4 with two home runs and 4 RBI.

GCL Blue Jays 6, GCL Yankees 5
Chi-Hung Cheng struggled in his second start from injury going just 2 innings while giving up 4 runs (2 earned). Brian Letko was lights out in a "relief" spot pitching 5 shutout innings with 4 Ks. He shares the JotG with John Tolisano who went 3 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBI.
