Was J.P. watching Halladay's September starts the last two years? The answer is clearly no.

If Gibbons stays in 2008 Riccardi will amass ZERO playoff appearances in 7 seasons.

I don't want another year where we the Jays' brass is satisfied with being 3rd place in the AL East year after year.

Gibbons doesn't guarantee no playoffs
he just makes it harder. Of course, we're right in the range where we can't afford things that make it harder.

J.P.
just won't admit a mistake, Gibbons isn't the worst manager in the league but he's not one of the better ones either. Having Janssen pitch to Granderson with the bases loaded while leaving Downs on the bench despite Granderson's absolutely horrible hitting against lefties (<.500 OPS!) was only an example. I'm more interested in seeing a new hitting coach, someone needs to work on some of the players with their approaches. I think many players could benefit. <p> More troubling even than bringing Gibby back are J.P.'s statements that the team on the field now will be the same team next season, with no changes. I'm not sure if he's serious about that or not, but we could really benefit from bringing in some new skill sets. And why not get Wells out of there and get Lind and Thigpen some regular at-bats.

Getting Wells under the knife now
instead of waiting for the end of the season has no downside from what I can see.
I hope we at least shuffle the bullpen a bit. Obviously there won't be 'no' changes since Towers won't be back, but I don't think Tallet is a fit. He's not a great situational lefty, and Vermilyea and Gronkiewicz both did a good job as innings eaters.
