Weekly Poll

Devon White won the Center Fielder poll. There were only 2 better choices on the ballot, but it does explain a lot about our political process. I love the vote for Mookie Wilson, he was a fun guy to have on the team. He wasn't a great player for the Jays but you had to like him.

This week it is right fielders and we've had a number of good ones. To me it should be the closest vote so far, I could see any of 4 guys winning it.

so

based on all the other votes, Carter would seem to be a lock, no? I can’t believe Devo won the Centerfielder poll!

I am surprised Jesse is keeping pace

considering what has happened in the other polls. But then Pat Borders won the catcher poll, so after that I shouldn’t let anything surprise me.

Gotta love the Raul Mondesi vote thought....

I’d love to hear the argument for him.

he had the Jays best ever at-bat intro music

it was this electric mambo number, and about 8 seconds in the singer sings something in Spanish that I could never understand, but I always though sounded a lot like “ra-UL mon-de-SI,” so I always referred to it as the Raul Mondesi Mambo. One of my friends once named his fantasy baseball team after it. Other than that, I can’t really think of much else redeeming about his stint with the Jays.

Glad to see Barfield getting some love. I think Green would have taken it had he stayed with the team longer, but Barfield gets my nod over Rios (at least up to this point in Alexis’ career). Plus, if we ever end up doing a “worst Jays colour commentator” poll, Barfield could become the first two-time poll winner.

ESPN recently had a poll

choosing the best team in the history of all 30 franchises, and Carter won the Jays vote. This may have been mentioned on the site before, but it bears repeating.

sorry

best player in the history of all 30 franchises. That was dumb

I hadn't seen that poll.....

would be kind of interesting. I wouldn’t call Carter our best of all time but can understand why he’d win the poll.

Not much you can really quibble about with the winners. Carter is probably the most obvious one and I would have gone with Johnson or Killebrew over Puckett for the Twins/Senators franchise, but the rest of the picks made a lot of sense.

I'd have Gary Carter at the top of the Expos' list.

Or at least 2nd, Dawson isn’t a bad choice. I wouldn’t pick Rose for the Reds but I have a dislike for the guy. Likely would have picked Tris Speaker for the Indians. A fun bunch of polls.
