Trade News....
Unfortunately it doesn't involve the Jays, the White Sox have traded Nick Swisher to the Yankees for Wilson Betemit and minor league pitchers Jeff Marquez and Jhonny Nunez. An interesting trade for the Yankees, Swisher can play any of the outfield spots or first base.
Swisher did not have a good season last year, hitting just .219 with 24 homers but he does have talent and I think he'll be a good pickup for the Yankees. Betemit is a utility infielder and I can't see him having a bigger role with the Sox. But getting a couple of pitching prospects is a good thing.

I wonder where they will play him, and whether that means they won’t be pursuing Teixiera? My guess is they would still pursue Teixiera and use Swisher in the OF or even at DH. Swisher was unlucky last season, with an abnormally low BABIP despite a good line drive rate. I think he will be formidable in the Yankee lineup, and a team as creaky as theirs will profit from his versatility.
Betemit isn’t too bad, he can play all the infield positions and is a switch-hitter with some power. The Yankees weren’t getting any use out of him, though. I don’t know too much about the pitching prospects the Sox got, but I’m generally a little surprised that they gave up on Swisher so quickly. I do think they’re trying to get faster and more athletic, wonder if now would be a good time to swoop in for Thome or Dye? I’d like either one at DH
