Game 13, April 14, 2008: Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles

Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles, Apr 14, 2008 7:05 PM EDT

Well I'm feeling pretty good after our sweep of the Rangers, in Arlington, since that hasn't happened in 23 years. And it's always good to see Doc leave Texas with his leg in one piece and not clutching his midsection.

Not much time today, as I have to get to band rehearsal (postponed from yesterday) and won't get to see the game or anything. But here's a nice piece on Shaun Marcum in the great John Sickels' Minor League Ball. In addition, Scott Rolen is back with the team, feeling good, and has started his rehab.

And here are the lineups for tonight's game:

Toronto Blue Jays
SS David Eckstein
RF Matt Stairs
2B Aaron Hill
CF Vernon Wells
DH Frank Thomas
1B Lyle Overbay
LF Shannon Stewart
C Greg Zaun
3B Joe Inglett

P Dustin McGowan

Baltimore Orioles
2B Brian Roberts
3B Melvin Mora
RF Nick Markakis
1B Kevin Millar
DH Aubrey Huff
LF Luke Scott
C Ramon Hernandez
CF Adam Jones
SS Luis Hernandez

P Matt Albers

Let's Go Jays!

Rios's on-base streak ends

and he gets the next night off. I feel like swapping Hill and Stairs in this lineup might make sense, but Stairs hasn't been great at the plate this year, although he did have that useful pinch hit.

Same question re: Johnson?

And how much does the league average LF cost?

Two years ago Johnson was a good LFer.....

Yeah I guess the decision to keep Stewart was money....but I thought the Jays wanted to win this year....saving a few bucks doesn't sound like a team trying to win

Error on a pickoff by McGowan....Jones to Third...

I often wonder if there isn't a good study to be done on the value of pickoff throws....Errors are costly....Wonder how often it would be better to concentrate on the batter and get ahead a strike...that must slow the running game as much as throws over.

Oh well have a good night, have to get going.

If there is a rain delay maybe I'll be back for the end.....

Horrible

That was a horrible game. No 2 ways about that. We had a few games like that so far where we've just been borderline terrible. 1 against Oakland and now this one.
