Strange game....
Started watching the Cardinal-Brewer game this morning and both teams have the pitcher batting 8th. I've heard managers talk about batting the pitcher 8th to allow the team to have two lead off men bascally. For the Brewers it seems dumb...have you pitcher batting 8th and Kendall batting ninth with a .345 average. St. Louis....has Izturis batting 9th hitting .179 while the pitcher is hitting .200. I would think the pitch is almost as good a hitter as Izturis. and Lohse hit a single and drove in a run.
Seems funny that both managers would do this the same game.....I can see one trying it but both deciding in dependantly to do it....I have my doubts. So, one would think they discussed it....or dared each other. In which case Larusa has out witted Yost. Having Kendall posibly lose an at bat and bat after a pitcher minimizes his .345 average somewhat while he has a lousy batter batting behind the pitcher. Which one of them is better at the plate is debatable....he's losing very little, if anything.

Ouch isn't batting 9th
in the nl a major insult? Unless of course you’re hitting behind Micah Owings. I also liked Dtrain as a hitter.

I would think it was a huge insult for Kendall for sure
Game is even more interesting now….in the now 10th inning….Izurtis (batting 9th) playing SS was hurt and had to come out of the game, Miles moved from 2B to SS and Pujols moved from 1B to 2B, LaRue from C to 1B. At first I thought it was an awful idea to put your star in to play 2B (what if he got hurt??) but Glaus is at 3B and he’s not going to short. So unless you wanted to move a OFer in or put LaRue at 2B….there isn’t much more they could do.
Pujols didn’t have a chance at 2B in his first inning there but will play there in the bottom of the 10th and till someone wins the game. Cards only have pitchers left. Really interesting game.
