Alex Rios Extension
I just heard JP Riccardi on WEEI radio in Boston say that the Blue Jays have a press conference scheduled for 3 today to announce the extension of Alex Rios, plus he added there is something else to announce but will wait until today at 3. I think this is a great signing for the Jays and its too bad he wont be hitting the free agent pool anytime soon, I would love to see him playing for my Red Sox because JD Drew is terrible.

Agreed
His defensive value is often overlooked, and I wouldn't mind seeing him in CF if Wells ever regresses enough defensively in the near future.

Woah
It's bigger than just Rios...from the Jays' official site:
The Jays locked Rios up with the six-year, $64 million extension, which will begin with the 2009 season
...
Hill agreed to a four-year contract worth $12 million with club options for 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Kudos to J.P. for seeming to finally get smart about the value of team, rather than player or vesting, option years. That link doesn't have the salary breakdown of Hill's options but there's no question that the front end of the deal (essentially $3 mill per year) is a great signing.

Contract Site
http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/ is a great site to get the info on all things mlb contract related. The Hill option years are not specific on that site either yet but its still the most complete and accurate contract site I have found.

All we need to do now
is develop a shortstop who can hit and field. Can we move Scott Campbell over?
