Game Thread for Game 118, Indians at Jays

Cleveland Indians at Toronto Blue Jays, Aug 10, 2008 1:07 PM EDT

The Jays sent Kevin Mench down to make room for Wells. The Jay's lineup has changed ince I first saw it up on MLB.com, Scoot was in right field then and Wilk was on the bench. I suppose this is better, but was interested to watch Scoot play the outfield. You really can't get worse than Wilk's bat in RF and against a strong lefty should be that much more fun.

Cliff Lee (15-2, 2.58) is pitching for the sweep for the Indians. Scott Richmond (0-1, 4.91) gets his third start for the Jays. The way we've been batting of late it really doesn't matter that we are facing a very good pitcher, we can make them all look good.

It's good to have Vernon Wells back with the team. It will even be better when he's back playing the outfield, we won't be treated to the sight of Wilk in the lineup everyday. Go Jays, please, we don't want to be .500 again. I'm going to watch the game today so join me in the thread.

I love when commentators talk about a stat they don't understand.

The compared Lee’s numbers with Doc’s and said they were comparable. Then Tabler said there was a little difference in run support. Doc is getting 4.12 runs per game and Lee is getting 5.87. That is not a little difference, that’s a huge difference

Tabler spents five minutes saying what a good idea that bunt was for Eck......

got first two guys on….why do we want to play for one run at that point….let’s get a few

Eckstein isn't going to hit a 3 run homer

I don't like Eckstein's bat

and I wouldn’t bat him second.

You mean can't?

And you can’t trust Rios in that spot.

I keep hearing JP say they are close, but they are only close if Rios hits like he did last year

and Wells hits like 2006 and Overbay like 2006. Hill like last year and Rolen like 2005 and Rolen like 2004. What are the odds of that happening?

Overbay could hit like 2004 or 2005

There was a line from a scout.....
The toughest thing for a scout? "Deciding whether what you see in a player now is what he is and not thinking back to what he was before they began steroid testing."

Barajas strikes out.

you think sooner or later Jamie will realize he’s talked about how great the other teams start has thrown almost every game. Maybe time to stop saying how great they are and start saying how lousy we are
