Please Come to Boston - Game Thread, Jays at Sawx
Well, looks like Alexis Rios has earned himself the day off. I wonder if he's a little banged up or if Cito is giving him a mental health day? Adam Lind gets to hit third, where I hope he'll spend lots of time next season, while Brad Wilkerson gets the start in rightfield.
Roy Halladay gets the start against Paul Byrd, who will be making his first start for Boston. Crazy how much better Boston's lineup is than ours, even with no Manny and Lowell out. And it's not as if their pitching is shoddy either, although Byrd is nothing special.
Let's see if the Jays can manage some runs. Off for a run now, but I should be back right around gametime to watch the game. Let's go Jays!

Yankees released Sexson
Good thing he passed up the Jays to play for them. Maybe he’s still available to be the Mench that Mench should have been.

I'll pass I think
Mench isn’t getting any at-bats, and Sexson might

Only against lefties
which is all we wanted Mench for, and he hasn’t delivered.

I by no means think we should keep Mench, don't get me wrong
but I also don’t want to take the chance of giving Sexson lots of at-bats when it’s pretty clear he’s cooked – I suppose he wouldn’t be a total nightmare as the RH half of a DH platoon, although that’s what I thought of Mench.

At least Sexson has shown some ability to hit lefties
at the major league level this year.

Melky has been one of the worst
offensive players in the league. Guess they should’ve traded him and Kennedy for Santana, haha

Cashman more likely to get fired than JP?
Please Godfrey, don’t hire him!

How many playoff games have the Yankees won under him?
And they have higher expectations than us. (And twice the payroll.)

Not that this is necessarily a measure of how good he is
But if you think not doing Cruz Jr. for Wright is firable, then so is not doing Cabrera + Kennedy for Santana, assuming either was actually up to the GM in question.

You know, an extra day of rest for Doc couldn't hurt
after throwing 130, could it?
