Ladies and Gentlemen, Travis Snider.
News update: Matt Stairs is going to the Phillies and we are getting a left-handed Triple A pitcher, Fabio Castro. He is 23 and has had some cups of coffee in the majors. He was 8-4 with a 4.71 ERA in LeHigh Valley. He has had a total of 30 games in the majors, 1 start, 0-1, 3.29 ERA in 43.2 innings, 26 walks and 32 strikeouts. Don't know anything about him but looks like he made AAA ball at a young age.

I'm certainly not defending Lyle's poor play
what with his playing a premier offensive position with no power and hitting into all the double plays. But he is second on the team in OPS among qualifying players (Lind is first, but not enough ABs).
yeah.....his on base has been great....
would like to see him up near the top of the order….where there is fewer chances to hit into DPs
Lyle is doing okay
it can take a while to get your power back from that kind of injury. His ability to get on base is pretty valuable, though we haven’t gotten the best use out of it by hitting him 6th and 7th

And then it dawned on me that these people react like that to anything they don’t understand b/c they are too intellectually lazy to learn anything new.

my favorite was years ago during a yankee-met game, dae-sung koo (mr. koo to those who couldn’t pronounce dae-sung) batted against Randy Johnson, which McCarver called “the biggest mismatch in baseball history”
koo doubled over the centerfielder (i think it was bernie williams)’s head.
then jose reyes was squaring to bunt and mccarver predicted that koo would “not know which base to run to.”
