Complete Coverage >

Another day, another lefty to start against us. you think teams have figured out we can't hit them? We have the same lineup that was soooo effective against Greg Smith yesterday. Today's lefty is Gio Gonzalez who was called up from Triple A to make the start. Gio was 8-7 with a 4.24 ERA there. He is a hard thrower but has had trouble finding the strike zone. Maybe we could let him walk a few tonight?

Shawn Marcum is going for us. He's had a tough time since coming back from the DL, I think he needs to build up arm strength, he has started each game well but when he tires his pitches has come up and he's given up 5 homeruns in 14.2 innings.

Barajas has been hot of lately, it seems he is either very hot or very cold. Gotta hope this hot streak lasts for awhile. Lind has been hot since being recalled , he hasn't gone more than one game without a hit since July 1.

Rays won in with a walk off home run, from Carlos Pena, this afternoon. Former Jay Gabe Gross also hit one in the 9th. I think they are for real.

Come on guys, I'm tired of saying we are back at .500, lets get a few games over, just for the fun of it.

with that swing

he was either going to hit it a mile or miss spectacularly. I couldn’t believe he actually made contact with it, the pitch was heading for his shoulder

By the way you asked in the 60 reason thread about JP getting prospects.....

in trades….I finally found a list of all JP’s trade and going to go thru them to see what young players he has gotten….likely do a longer piece on it, instead of just putting it in that comment thread

Strikes out Crosby and Barton pops up.....

Barton is a god awful hitter for a firstbaseman

the lead is only 3

so its a save situation. Not the highest leverage situation, but most teams would probably go to their regular setup guy here

no, it is 4

but the TSN overheard scoreboard thing said 4-1 during the inning. The end of inning totals screen had it as 5-1

I'm confused

bluejays.com says 4-1, but TSN says 5-1

allright!

I missed the game unfortunately, because of band rehearsal. But it is great to see Marcum bounce back with a great start, racking up the Ks. Onward and upward!!!

nice

I just caught the end of the game cuz I had to stay late at work but it looks like Marcum pitched a gem out there…. 3 hitter, even against the A’s is not that easy to achieve.
Playing against them might be just the thing we need to boost our confidence right now….
you know what would have been awesome though? if we had pulled the trigger on a manny deal.. say what you want about the guy, but when he wants to show the world that he’s amazing, he’ll blow it up…
obviously Boston wouldn’t want to send him to a division opponent but still…
was this never even feasible? LA’s not paying him anything this year and $20M a season is doable… i mean we might lose Burnett and we got frank thomas… losing those 2 salaries comes close doesn’t it (don’t really know the salaries for sure)? what do you guys think?
