Time to Start a New Streak, Game Thread
Toronto Blue Jays at Chicago White Sox, Sep 11, 2008 8:11 PM EDT
We have Shawn Marcum (8-6, 3.42), he pitched 7 shutout innings in his last start and we could use that again tonight. Chicago has Gavin Floyd (15-6, 3.72), he was hit pretty hard in his last start 7 innings and 5 earned against the Angels.
Cito is still talking about starting AJ, Doc and Litsch on short rest this weekend againt the Red Sox, I guess if we win tonight he might try it. After not making an error for so long the Jays have made 3 errors in a game in 2 of the last 3 games. Making up for lost time. And Rios has an 11 game hitting streak going. Would have been good if he could have got one in the 9th inning last night, but he is hitting with power again. Makes me feel better about next year.
I am glad we are facing a right hander tonight, we'll be spared watching Bautista play first, that should come with a PG13 rating. I have a parent teacher meeting but should be back by the 3rd inning, so join me in the game thread. Go Jays.

that was the second bad call at first today to go in the Jays favour
earlier in the game, Swisher was ruled to have been off the bag on a routine throw from Cabrera, but the replay showed that his toe was on (wasn’t particularly close on replay, either).
Jays haven’t capitalized on either gift, however

we've heard a lot about these new maple bats this season
which apparently shatter easily and tend to shear off at the handle, resulting in entire barrels going flying.
I was always under the impression that bats had to made of ash. Is allowing maple bats new, or is it just that they have recently become popular?
by SuckaMD on Sep 11, 2008 9:46 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think Joe Carter was the first to use a maple bat
before they were technically allowed

Maybe Marcum does have an attitude problem
and all the other players hate him and that’s why they never score when he pitches.

I thought Coats was. He started the year with the team, right? Also, he was a trade for cash, so he must have been in their system for a few years.

I would think so.....ummmm someone there was only $6
by Tom Dakers on Sep 11, 2008 10:33 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
After further investigation
it appears that it just lapsed today. The policy is that upon expiration, the page is priced at $100 more than it was previously purchased for or three times that price, whichever is less. In Doc’s case, they added $100 to the previous $65 price.
The price then reduces by $10 per day until it is purchased or returns to its previous price, where it stays until someone buys it.
