Another Night, No Sanctuary - Game Thread, Jays at Boston, night version

Toronto Blue Jays at Boston Red Sox, Sep 13, 2008 7:05 PM EDT

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday.  Rancid rings in tonight's game, and it's apropos given that there is no sanctuary for our azure corvidae heroes - a big win this afternoon, but that just makes tonight's game all the more important.

Not sure how much of the game I'll be around for tonight - meeting up with my cousin in Brooklyn a little bit later.  Let's go Jays!

Last time there were 6 doubleheaders in one day

there were 5 sweeps, 4 by the road team.

1980 I think

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 7:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Litsch a little better this inning so far

1-0 and 2-1 counts to both batters before getting the two outs

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 7:51 PM EDT reply actions

No sooner I say it

0-2 count to Cash and then 4 straight balls

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 7:53 PM EDT reply actions

And a first pitch grounder to first to strand him

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 7:53 PM EDT reply actions

Pedroia tried to Vlad one way outside

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:02 PM EDT reply actions

CBC's gun had that "2 seamer" as 93

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:02 PM EDT reply actions

They have home and road feeds now

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:07 PM EDT up reply actions

so they broadcast both feeds for all games and you can choose?

that’s pretty sweet. Despite their obvious Soxian homer-ness, I imagine the Red Sox guys are better than the CBC crew. Though I’m a big fan of Jim Hughson.

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:10 PM EDT up reply actions

As of a couple days ago, yes

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:10 PM EDT up reply actions

when watching ono MLB.tv

do you get the local commercials, too, or do they pipe in their own?

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:23 PM EDT up reply actions

You usually get a 'commercial in progress' screen

On weekdays they pipe in their own, but they’re on a small rotation.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:26 PM EDT up reply actions

0-2 to 3-2 again, this time on Youkilis

but strikes him out.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:07 PM EDT reply actions

1-2-3 inning for Litsch with the K on Yook

but 61 pitches through 3. Doesn’t look like he’s going too deep, especially on short rest

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:07 PM EDT reply actions

Considering he used 30 to get through 1

he could get a few outs in the 6th, which would be great. Bullpen in pretty good shape, assuming you don’t mind Downs and Ryan pitching.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:09 PM EDT up reply actions

Frasor

and he sucked

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Or even close games we're losing

He’s the new Gas Can.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:15 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't think so

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, Wolfe

He was pretty good at one point.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:18 PM EDT up reply actions

now, not so much

though he’s probably still better than Frasor

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:19 PM EDT up reply actions

He's a righty specialist

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Zaun gets a 3-0 count

then pops up 3-2

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:11 PM EDT reply actions

Moonraker with the first pitch fly out

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:12 PM EDT reply actions

And Inglett with a 3-1 fly ball

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:13 PM EDT reply actions

Moonraker steals a homer

Admittedly that’s a low wall

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:20 PM EDT reply actions

ya

a nice play to prevent the homer, but not a particularly difficult play

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:21 PM EDT up reply actions

wow, lucky play

hard hit from Rios up the middle somehow ends up in Colon’s glove as he tries to get out of the way

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:26 PM EDT reply actions

0-2 on Cash and walks him again

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Pedroia doubles off the monster

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:34 PM EDT reply actions

Jesse's getting hit pretty hard

don’t know how I feel about him coming out for the 6th

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:34 PM EDT reply actions

Only 3 hits

and 2 are Pedroia

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions

But yeah, the near-homer was a nervous moment

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions

he was going great

until this inning…two hard hits and a sharply hit grounder that turned into a DP

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions

he's at 93

wonder what Cito’s thinking.

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Rios rushed the throw on it

Didn’t get it to the bag

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:35 PM EDT reply actions

Strikes out Ortiz again

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

Another Rolen double play

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:42 PM EDT reply actions

Showed the bullpen

Didn’t look like anyone was throwing, but maybe someone was already warm?

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:46 PM EDT reply actions

Leadoff double for Youkilis

Is Jesse done?

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:47 PM EDT reply actions

At 99 pitches

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Looks like he's going to face Kotsay

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:48 PM EDT reply actions

Waiting for Bay to be announced?

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Nope, Litsch still in

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Lost Kotsay on 4 straight

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:49 PM EDT reply actions

I think Litsch got a break on the second strike

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:51 PM EDT reply actions

Loaded on a bloop single

Rios didn’t get to it very fast

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:52 PM EDT reply actions

This could go to hell any moment

Arnsberg out to talk.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:53 PM EDT reply actions

they had noone ready in the pen?

with Litsch at 93 pitches going into this inning and supposedly on a pitch count?? Ridiculous

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:53 PM EDT reply actions

I know

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:55 PM EDT up reply actions

even if he wasn't on a pitch count

he was at 93 and had just gotten hit pretty hard the previous inning.

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:57 PM EDT up reply actions

And this inning he had nothing

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Sac fly, runner up to third

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:55 PM EDT reply actions

Carlson for the second time today

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:55 PM EDT reply actions

And if this goes to hell

it’s all on Cito

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:56 PM EDT reply actions

I don't mind brining Cy in here

as long as he doesn’t pitch more than this inning and is not pitched tomorrow (that will give him 2 days off with the off day on Monday)

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 8:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Chicago series

Not sure which game.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

Lowell pinch hitting for Cora

Lowell lines out softly to Inglett

No double play chance

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 8:59 PM EDT reply actions

Hey Torgen, I see you are one of two people on now.

Y’all are still allowed to actively root for the Jays on OTM, if you weren’t too scared by it earlier.

Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.

by bdalebs on Sep 13, 2008 9:00 PM EDT reply actions

Have fun.

Try not to shove something in their face (cake, beer, etc)

League gets the grounder

Cito escapes scorn. Well, okay, no he doesn’t, but it doesn’t cost us the game.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 9:03 PM EDT reply actions

Downs in to face Papi

who is going to pitch the 8th and 9th? 2 innings from Ryan may be more than I can take

by SuckaMD on Sep 13, 2008 9:16 PM EDT reply actions

I think Torgen is on OTM for now.

You’re welcome too.

There are no people on here for now.

Come on over to www.overthemonster.com and comment with the Red Sox fans. We try not to be too much of pains in the @$$es.

Cito said it was a must win game

but he didn’t manage it like it was a must win game.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

by Torgen on Sep 13, 2008 10:07 PM EDT reply actions

Inglett and I guess Carlson for JotD

Downs gets the Batista, and Cito deserves more blame for Litsch’s low score than Litsch, who pitched well until he ran out of gas, and then got left out to dry.

"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

What, no GT for Sunday?

GREAT GAME!
