Doctor, Doctor, Give Me the News. Game Thread for Game 159, Yankees at Jays
New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays, Sep 25, 2008 7:07 PM EDT
Doc goes for his 20th win tonight, lets get him some runs guys. Carl friggin Pavano pitching for the Yankees, he beat us once this year. We can't have that again. I see Jeter is still out of the line up for the Hankees and they are sitting Damon, ARod and Matsui. They also have a rookie catching Francisco Cervelli making his first major league start.
Zaun is in again for us, not sure why we don't let Thigpen start a few games, but I don't make out the line up cards. And Moonraker has been moved up a spot in the order, hitting in front of Zaun. Other than that it is pretty much our normal line up. Vernon is DHing tonight putting Rios in CF.
In other Jay's news it is official Cito will be back next year, he is signed thru 2010. I hope he will learn to take it a little easier on his pitcher's arms, but I won't hold my breath. JP says the fates of the other coaches will be announced this weekend, it's likely they all will get two year contracts as well.
I'll be late to get to the game thread, my boy has hockey, but I should be in for most of the game, come join me. Come on guys, let's get Doc his 20th!! Yeah I know it's a lame song for the game thread....give me a break, I got a cold.

hard double for Gardner....then a single for Cano....we are down one-zip
and snider’s throw allows Cano to go to second.
Rincewind, you the only one on here?
Feel free to come over to OTM. We need someone watching the MFY for us, and we can discuss the offseason and next year.
Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.
It's a bit more fun to talk to other people.
I learned that a while ago.

Always necessary.
Drop by if you get bored.

good good
love to see Doc get his 20th. He definitely deserves it
I was actually in Boston for the past few days
caught an episode of Sox Appeal. Definitely among the more ridiculous shows I’ve ever seen.
apparently there is a tie-in between the show and the NESN Sox broadcast
so during the game, the cameras will periodically check in on the daters and the announcers will make fun of the guy.
All I can think is I'd be busy watching the game and ignore the girl.......
while filling in my scorecard
ya, got them back last week
I passed, which was the main goal; but I actually did somewhat better than I thought I would, so I’m pretty happy
seems like one of those reach signings
where absolutely everything has to go right for it to work out
yeah I really can't see it....I think next year if we sign someone it has to be someone we are sure will eat innings
there looks to be a decent number of FA starters
maybe the market will dip a little and allow us to grab someone without overpaying ridiculously
Yeah I'm thinking we ought to be able to afford someone.
If AJ leaves we need to get someone….if he doesn’t, it would be nice still
maybe
though I somehow doubt it. The Leafs sometimes try to play that card to try and lure free agents, and are always rebuffed.
I was thinking in the 8-9 range
how much are the Jays going to have to spend?
Well there's 12 off the books for AJ (probably)
10ish more if we deal BJ, and 8 from Frank.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
If AJ is gone....12 mill there, 10 from Thomas, 4 from eck
Zaun is what 3 or so, Stairs? I can’t remember
is BJ for Hardy likely to happen?
in that case, we would basically have 30mil to sign two or three starters
Stairs was 2.5M this year and less next
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Thomas was 10 the first year, 8 the next, and 10 in the vesting year, I thought
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
I was thinking more in the drop from this year....
we were about 100 mill this year, I think we are around 70 mill next year with the contracts we have….I am taking it for granted that we’ll stay close to 100 mill
Dempster's FIP is 3.5
compared to Lowe’s 3.25, so Dempster should be less expensive than Lowe anyways. Have to love Lowe’s 60% grounder rate with our infield, right?
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
if Lowe can be gotten for a reasonable price
he’d be a great fit, I would think
95 pitch complete game
