Night and Day: Game Thread, Jays at ChiSox, Part II
Toronto Blue Jays at Chicago White Sox, Sep 9, 2008 8:11 PM EDT
Unfortunately, I don't know what happened with the first game, since I'm flying for business this evening, but here's the game thread for the night portion of the non-doubleheader. The pitching matchup features pink, round, and efficient vs. the large lefty Clayton Richard for Chicago. Let's go Jays!

how spent is the bullpen?
I didn’t see the game this afternoon, did AJ go deep?
by SuckaMD on Sep 9, 2008 8:41 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Certainly a better start to this inning
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
by Torgen on Sep 9, 2008 8:44 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
A more efficient inning than the first
but Jesse isn’t setting himself up to go deep into this game.

41 pitches through 2
but only around 10 of them came in the second, so if he avoids another inning like the first, he could do decently
by SuckaMD on Sep 9, 2008 8:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
15 in the second, actually

19 pitches that inning, and he gave up the lead
so not only is he not likely to work deep, but we’re not likely to want him to.

Leading off with 1 pitch outs won't help
we’ve done it a few times already.

Rays ahead of the Red Sox.....
Jamie said the Yankees have been out of it for a long time……….but would he say we are out of it?
by Tom Dakers on Sep 9, 2008 9:40 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
They're out of it because they have Ponson and Rasner in their rotation
We don’t have that problem.

If we sweep the ChiSox we're tied with them
Which means we don’t care much about the central any more.

and then the pitch is to the outside

I say shut him down now and use him on short rest for the Saturday doubleheader.

that's really short rest
only 2 days in between starts

Doc would be starting on Sunday against Boston
so that’s 3 days
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
by Torgen on Sep 9, 2008 10:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
oh
thought you meant starting during the double-header on Sat.
Do we really need to be doing this? Does Cito actually think we have a chance at the wild card?
by SuckaMD on Sep 9, 2008 10:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
If we sweep this series
then our chances at the wild card are pretty much exactly our performance against Boston. If we’re 0-3 in the series going into Sunday, then Doc probably doesn’t start, although that might be a Cy Young thing too.
