Almost Jay News

The CBC has announced they will not be showing Jay games this coming season. Canadian announce 'Thank God' because the combination of Rance Mulliniks and Jesse Barfield doing color on CBC games was almost enough turn a guy off baseball. If they would shut up sometimes they might notice what a nice game baseball is to watch.

Between Sportsnet and TSN we will get to watch 145 of the 162 games. Of course we won't be allowed to see the 17 other games on MLB.TV because they will be blacked out in Canada, for reasons that give me a headache to try to figure out.

And everyone's favorite former Jay pitcher, Josh Towers, has signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals. So, if he makes the team, Hugo will get to watch him serve up gopher balls in person. Odds of him making the team are slim, but Washington doesn't have a deep starting rotation.

In news that, I hope, will not effect the Jays in anyway, the Dodgers are going to release Andruw Jones tomorrow. As much as we really could use a fourth outfielder next year I hope JP doesn't decide to try Jones. Though all he would get from us is the major league minimum, while the Dodgers pay him more to not play ball for them for the next 6 year than the rest of us will make in a lifetime.

And for those of you that didn't know, Abe Vigoda is still alive. For those of you to young to know who Abe Vigoda is.....youth is wasted on the wrong people. Rent the Godfather. I'd try to explain Barney Miller but is bed time.

But Richardo Montalban isn't still alive. No word on whether his casket will be lined with Corinthian leather.

whoa Towers and Chacin are Nationals

that could make a surprisingly good rotation if it were only 2005.

Hugo!

Don’t go and watch Towers, I beg of you! It will make you want to torture yourself and everyone around you!

I have this crazy feeling

he’s going to pitch one of the games against the Jays this season. To quote the great John Gibbons….“he almost has to start….do you believe in miracles?”
