good to see Snider swinging better to end the season as well, no more 3 k games

cause for some optimism … LInd, Hill, Snider, Edwin, Ruiz

just have to figure out where to play everyone without killing the D.
Lind to first and Overbay gone maybe?
by ClintB on Oct 4, 2009 2:35 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
no, cannot move Overbay
so I would platoon Ruiz with Overbay and Lind has to play OF on days where Overbay plays and then Ruiz is DH
so against righties Overbay and Lind play the field and Ruiz DHs
and gainst lefties Overbay sits, Ruiz plays 1b and Lind DHs and Bautista plays (if he is still around)

Snider, Lind, Wells, Edwin, Hill, Vespa (if still here), Ruiz should bat everyday IMHo
Snider is started to look better with a glove, IMHO,

yeah, I just don't think an outfield of Lind, Snider and Wells will be good
for such a young pitching staff
by ClintB on Oct 4, 2009 2:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I cannot argue that point against you … but we have to work with what we got
it will put a lot of pressure on Wells, but he is ok … and Snider is, at least as I have observed, seemingly much more comfortable out there
Lind still makes me sweat everytime a ball is hit his way
Bautista, if still here is ok
i think you are going to lose a lot fewer games from a not-stellar outfield than you win with good bats, but yep, it is a liability for sure

AA has a lot of decisions to make, I really got the sense that
Halladay is gone, especially after listening to him yesterday, if so I say let Marco and Barajas walk. Then I hope AA can be agressive in the darft go over slot and actually sign the players
by ClintB on Oct 4, 2009 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
if no Halladay, no shot at competing IMO, so take the draft
picks, rebuild, maybe try and get a ss in the Halladay trade
by ClintB on Oct 4, 2009 3:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
the Halladay situation, well it is just a business matter at this point
if Halladay is committed to FA, than the Jays should move him in order to maximize his value to the team
if Halladay will stay, than they should keep him
he has pretty much indicated he wants to go, so really the the decision is made for them

that's my point in not resigning scutaro
by ClintB on Oct 4, 2009 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
would you resign marco if Halladay is traded?
by ClintB on Oct 4, 2009 3:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I like Marco
and would want to do whatever to try and keep him. IMO.
by Temujin on Oct 4, 2009 3:26 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
fair enough, I just think if Halladay is dealt, they
won’t likely add payroll as it will be tough to compete in 2010 without him, so why not take the two draft picks and look to the future.
by ClintB on Oct 4, 2009 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That makes good sense too
Which is why I’d make a terrible MLB manager… too sentimental towards players I like.

as funny as it sounds, the guy has been downright respectable at the plate late in the season

A good final start of the year for Romero
Something else to be optimistic about for next season.

you knew cito would get carlson in the last game of the year no matter what

Tigers just won, Rios grounded into a double play for the last play of the season.
And it looks like the Twins are going to win so we are looking at a 2nd year in a row with a one game playoff
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
by JohnnyG on Oct 4, 2009 3:33 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
yankees must be loving this, tigers had to burn a Verlander start before the playoffs and
can’t even start him in game one now if they beat the twins. The yanks are going to wax whoever wins the central. Winnign the east is a big advantage this year.
by ClintB on Oct 4, 2009 3:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i think the Central was destined to get waxed any way you slice it
by aagoodfella on Oct 4, 2009 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
we just have to keep our fingers crossed that the NL or maybe ALW can take out the Yanks
by aagoodfella on Oct 4, 2009 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
so the jays could end up drafting as high as 9th next year
by ClintB on Oct 4, 2009 3:41 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
anyone know how the draft order works where teams have the same record?
I ask because the Jays could end up with the same record as Oakland and San Diego

Game saving play by Hill
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

yea, just before that mess, i was going to praise Camp for a very efficient outing … would have been premature

Terrible throw on that bunt by League
