Sox Reportedly Making a Run at the Jays

From the Jays web page, the latest rumor has BoSox heating up their pursuit of Roy. I am not so excited about creating another AL East titan, but if the Jays can get a real good deal, it is a bitter pill I could swallow. Of course, any deal with the Sox would have to include Heidi Watney coming to Toronto, Click title for link:

Which poll option best reflects your response to Roy playing for the Sox?
No bloody way, I am tired of Jays serving as a pitching farm system to AL East powerhouses

If we get a good deal from the Sox, I can tolerate it.

Keep Roy in 2010 and see if we can woo him. No trade to anyone!

I can only accept a deal to an NL or non-AL East team.

If the best deal comes from the Red Sox (and best by a significant margin) then we should take it. If it’s a “tie” between the Sox and another team outside the AL East, then we should take the other trade.

I think...

The Yankees or Red Sox will still have to pay a premium to acquire Doc. That said if they are willing to pay more then anyone else then I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing him dealt within the AL East. Personally (I think someone mentioned this in another thread too) I’d like to see him go to the Yankees over the Sox. Yankees are the best team by far in the AL East so if they are better the Jays still have a shot to catch Boston, if Boston gets Doc then the Jays shot will be at 3rd place…Again!!!!
