Jays Announce Minor League Coaching Staffs

The Jays have announced their minor league coaching staffs. Mustachio fans will be happy to see Sal Fasano's name among the new managers.

BLUE JAYS ANNOUNCE MINOR LEAGUE APPOINTMENTS

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS announce the following appointments to their Minor League Field staffs for the 2010 season. New to the organization are roving coaches ANTHONY IAPOCE, RICH MILLER & PETE WALKER, manager’s DAN ROHN, LUIS RIVERA & SAL FASANO, coaches RALPH DICKENSON, JOHN TAMARGO JR. & KENNY GRAHAM & Athletic Training & Rehab Coordinator HAP HUDSON. Former Minor League Athletic Training & Rehab Coordinator MIKE FROSTAD has accepted the position of Major League Assistant Trainer.

DAN ROHN, has been hired to manage Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League (AAA). The 53 year old most recently managed the Fresno Grizzlies (AAA) in the San Francisco organization for the past three seasons. The Alpena, Michigan native has now been a manager or coach in professional baseball for 20 seasons earning PCL Manager of the Year honours in 2004 & 2005. A former 4th round selection of the Cubs, Rohn played in 54 games over three seasons with the Cubs & Indians.

 

LUIS RIVERA, will manage the New Hampshire FisherCats of the Eastern League (AA). The native of Cidra, Puerto Rico, spent six seasons (2000–05) coaching and managing in the Cleveland Indians system, prior to being appointed First Base Coach with Indians in 2006. Rivera managed the Lake County Captains in 2003 & 2004, winning South Atlantic League Manager of the Year honours in 2003 after his team compiled a minor league-best record of 97-43 (.693). The former infielder spent 11 seasons in the Major Leagues, playing 781 games for Montreal, Boston, New York (NL), Houston & Kansas City from 1986-98.

SAL FASANO, has been appointed as manager at Lansing of the Midwest League (Low-A). The Chicago, Illinois native is making his coaching debut after 17 professional seasons as a player. The right-handed hitting catcher played in 427 Major League games, with nine different clubs, including the Toronto Blue Jays in 2007.

CLAYTON McCULLOUGH, will manage Dunedin of the Florida State League (Advanced-A) after spending the last two seasons at Lansing. The 30-year-old East Carolina University product led the Lugnuts to a playoff appearance in 2008 & will be in his 4th season as a manager, all with the Blue Jays.

DENNIS HOLMBERG, is returning for a 9th season at Auburn and has been a manager or coach in the Blue Jays system since the 1978 season. In 20 seasons as a manager, the Palm Harbor, Florida resident has posted a 1204-1114 record, making nine playoff appearances, including a NY-Penn League Championship with Auburn in 2007.

JOHN SCHNEIDER, returns to the clubs’ Gulf Coast entry for a 3rd season and 2nd as manager. The 29 year old native of Princeton, New Jersey led the club to a 3rd place finish with a 30-28 record in the 2009 season.
