Red Sox Sign John Lackey...
Sox get John Lackey, so instead of getting the 29th draft pick, we would get the 59th or so for Scutaro, until they sign Holladay, then it's like 100th pick......tell me again why letting him go was a good thing?
Update: 5 years and $85 million. Someone has too much money.

Because signing Scutaro to a three year $17mil deal would have been a bad idea?

Remember, the MLB draft is a crapshoot. For instance, our boy Adam Lind was drafted in the 3rd round.

Mike Piazza was taken in some ridiculously high number as a favour. One of the best hitting catchers ever was taken as a favour. Incredible
