Jays Sign Ramon Castro

For a moment we didn't have any catchers, now we have 3 though Raul signed a minor league contract, Ramon Castro signed for a year and a million. Click on his name for his stats.  A defense first catcher, who hits the ball hard when he does hit the ball.

Not really

There is a need for one. Why the Jays need 2 is beyond me. Just like 2 light hitting defense-first shortstops.
Hmmm, Maybe AA likes things in 2’s

well

at least Chavez is on a minor league deal…but I don’t like the tandem of John Buck and Ramon Castro as your everyday catchers…ahhh well hopefully JP Arencibia will be ready soon or D’Arnaud

Castro isn't bad

he’s not durable, and his bat isn’t anything to get too excited about, but his career offensive numbers are better than plenty of everyday catchers out there.

This is a reasonable signing.

Low-risk, cheap, and doesn’t kill you.

He’s the backup, Chavez is the AAA insurance.

Not a bad job at all.
