Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Jordan Bastian tweeters (no, he is not actually using a coil suspended within a magnetic field in order to produce a high frequency at the upper limits of human hearing but I feel self-conscious about using correct twitter lingo) that Jays GM Alex Anthoplous will be doing a live web chat with fans over on bluejays.com this afternoon at 4 pm.

Somehow there is something wrong with the idea of a grown man saying tweets or twits or whatever the agreed upon term might be.

Funny story

And I don’t really know where else to put it.

Last night me and my lady friend were going for groceries and I mentioned “Oh, Roy Halladay was traded”
(Girfriend not a baseball fan at all, but I watch enough that she knows the players. She refers to Vernon as ‘the chubby guy’ and likes guys like Brandon League and Marco Scutaro) Anyways, she asked why he was traded and I didn’t feel like delving into contracts, and payrolls and everything else so I just said that they got 3 good players in return. She said, “awww, thats too bad. At least we still have Scutaro”. Ummmm, he’s in Boston now. To which she wailled “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”.

It was pretty funny, she generally hates baseball but was legitamitely upset at Scoot not being resigned.

My girlfriend was devastated with Rios` trading last year

She called him the “one with the cute nose”

Jenkins could move very fast

but no reason to rush him

I hope he answers one of my questions

i asked one about Dopirak and the clog at 1B… his thoughts on trading Accardo, and his thoughts on the lack of athleticism on the team.

AA - Drabek starting in AA cuz that is where he finished last season

AA will elevate Drabek to as high a level as his talent will carry him

I wonder how our farm system would rank

with our new acquisitions. I have to think we’d at least get near the top half of the league, no?

AA loves greek food

IMHO, one of the best features of Toronto is the great greek dining … Love it

by aagoodfella on Dec 18, 2009 4:19 PM EST reply actions

definitely

I’ve had some incredible greek food in Toronto.

yea, when I was not living in Toronto and I came back to visit, going out for Greek dining was always on the agenda

by aagoodfella on Dec 18, 2009 4:22 PM EST up reply actions

you always do in a draft...

can’t draft what a team needs now when the draft pick will take 4 years to get to the team.

eek, hopefully the Jays face nothing but lefties and we should have nothing to worry about

by aagoodfella on Dec 18, 2009 4:42 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe we'll see them in September

And then crack the opening day roster in 2011? Or is that a little too optimistic?

he sounds pretty upbeat, if they move Overbay, I could see Wallace before that

an injury situation could see Drabek up early perhaps

by aagoodfella on Dec 18, 2009 4:52 PM EST up reply actions

I dont doubt we'll see Wallace in September

IF everything goes well this season for him.

Drabek maybe, although again that depends on how well he does this year, and if we have any open spots in the rotation.

I actually think that's reasonable, particularly Wallace

but it will depend on how they progress this season.

I can't imagine the Jays will be redrafting any of their high-profile picks who didn't sign, can you?

Mills wasn’t a very high pick the first time around, though, right?

by hugo on Dec 18, 2009 5:05 PM EST up reply actions

I mean, you can see

the logic in a team re-drafting someone that wasn’t a high-round pick and reasonably decided to go to college before reentering the draft (especially someone like Mills, who went to complete an Engineering degree), and you can see the logic in a team going after a player who they failed to sign once some other team has signed them (like Wallace, since there is no risk of losing them again), but I don’t see a team using a 1st-3rd round pick on someone and then doing it again the very next year after they refuse to sign.

I’ve been wrong before though…

Iguess my point is scouts don’t stop liking their guys

by ayjackson on Dec 18, 2009 5:10 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I definitely agree with that part of it

sorry, ambiguous wording, I mean they get they keep the draft slots, not that they will re-pick the same guys

re: My question to AA - "Al, Please do NOT trade Snyder, thank you"

“We love Travis Snider. No idea where these rumors are coming from. We think he’s going to be an impact middle-of-the-order at bat and in addition he has such a tremendous make-up he could be a great leader on this team one day”

it was Blair

He said it out of the blue on PTS, then decided it was so rich he should tweet it. He’s just trying to get revenge for all the ridicule over the Luge coverage.
