Star Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay, who hopes his current residence in trade limbo will be resolved within the next couple of months, will be pleased to hear that the Jays have engaged the Yankees in at least initial trade talks. According to sources, Toronto officials mentioned at least four Yankees players and minor leaguers that interested them when the teams spoke recently: Phil Hughes, Joba Chamberlain, catching prospect Jesus Montero and outfield prospect Austin Jackson.

Me?
Yeah. I don’t think they’ll get anything like that, but some combination with Hughes and Montero would be good. Jackson I don’t think of as that great a prospect but would have the bonus of moving Vernon out of center, an outfield of Snider, Jackson and Wells would be pretty good defensively. And I’d try to flip Joba. Montero is a year away from the majors, I’d hope. He will just be 20 next year. No use calling him up when he still has things to learn.
All day
I’ve made the comment “If we get Joba Hughes Montero and Jackson, I’ll drive Doc to the airport myself” more times than Hugo has said “I wouldn’t trust Jon Heyman if he said the Jays were in the AL east”

....aaaaaaaaaaaand I don't want Doc to go to the Sox
If we have to compete with the Yankees and the Sox with Doc for the next 5 years, I’ll jump off a bridge.

Not only would I take it...
I would offer to carry Doc’s luggage to the airport myself.
Jackson, Montero and Hughes are my ideal package, and if they want to throw in Joba the Hutt, I’m shopping him like a Vegas pimp for good SS and outfield prospects. Think the Angels would pony up Bourjas and another good prospects for Joba?
Why no love around here for Joba?
I realize he’s kind of a douche and never that effective as a starter but this guy was lights out in the bullpen a couple years ago.
Didn’t we have enough bullpen issues last year? Having Joba in the 8th and some combination of League, Frasor and downs in the 7th and 9th would make life alot easier for our young starters. IMO anyways

Joba was good when he came up...
But, there have been some, I think the polite term would be, conditioning issues. He’s not fooling guys like he did when he first came up and it takes him a ton of pitches to get through an inning.
Trading Doc for Joba to make the latter a reliever
is a classic case of overpaying for a closer.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
if the yanks won't give us montero/jackson, how 'bout montero/fmart?
I’m thinking that Mets management is incompetant enough that they might not notice their top prospect being traded to another team by their crosstown rival.
