Jays Grab Oriole Lefty Brian Burres
The Jays picked up another hopeful for the 5th starter spot, Brian Burres (and I've picked up a really nasty flu). Burres was 7-9 with a 6.04 ERA last year (I get the feeling my flu has a better chance at being a useful starter). To make room for him the Jays designated Curtis Thigpen for assignment. Burres will be 28 this season, you never know I guess.

hope you feel better soon!
Thigpen will probably remain with the Jays, no? I’m not sure anyone will claim him, though you never know. Anyway, Burres doesn’t seem like anything we don’t already have quite a bit of, the Japanese 40-year old MLB virgin is a better signing in my opinion. If the O’s are waiving a pitcher, that’s not a good sign for the guy.

oh
and it’s a little annoying that the O’s got Rich Hill, who might actually be a useful pitcher and who actually has some major league success under his belt, for a PTBNL and we get the guy that the O’s waived in order to add Hill to their roster.
