Opinion/Predictions for 2009
Update from Tom: I am reposting this and putting it on the front page. Since the season starts on the weekend we should be ready to give our predictions now.....
As Rince stated in his post today:
"So let's all share opinions, and see if we do better than the experts."
This got me to thinking about doing a community prediction on the standings and major award winners in MLB for 2009. ROY voters don't usually like pitchers
I agree with KLaw that it’s between Wieters and Snider in the AL, but Snider will be up for more of the year. Not sure how much RoY voters understand positional scarcity—Soto did win it in the NL last year.

I agree that pitcher's rarely win...
but Price has a special arm…he’ll be hard to beat out for ROY especially since Wieters will likely play a month or so in the minors. I love Snider but his Ks could hurt him after pitchers figure him out.
Ryan Howard won RoY in a partial season
and he strikes out a ton.

Price was sent down to the minors
so he won’t play a full season either. I wouldn’t be surprised if they call him up pretty early in the season, though; they may just stash him in the minors to get an extra protected year out of him down the line.
didnt really have anyone
awesome with a full season to contend with besides gallaraga, and he was a pitcher.

Didn't Longoria get called up sooner than planned
because of an injury to Aybar?

Too Early...
May be a bit too early in the Spring to make these predictions…everyone keep your thinking caps on…I’ll re-post this closer to the season start.
sounds good

ROY prediction
I predict that Edinson Volquez will win NL Rookie of the Year

He's a good choice every year.

I was going to...
pick Kershaw for NL ROY but I wasn’t sure if he was eligible and didn’t want to look like I was picking the next Volquez
god is real
ESPN’s Jayson Stark has a new blog post up.
The Astros plan to give Chris Johnson a chance to win the third base job, but Stark says Juan Uribe, Jose Bautista, and Jeff Baker “could still show up on their shopping list in the next two weeks.”
:O:D:)
thanks for listening big guy
who else likes ducks?
Hey....I'll believe God is real....
when they send Roy Oswalt for Bautista…..then he’s real and a Jay’s fan.
How much money is Oswalt making?
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
they can have him
for a few pairs of tickets to a Texan’s game and some BBQ sauce.
$14 million this year
$15 million next and $16 million in 2011. roughly what AJ was going to taking home…
okay…..my predictions are:
Tampa,Minnesota and Oakland winning their divisions with TORONTO winning the Wild Card.
Phillies,St.Louis and Dogers are my picks for the NL division winners with the Mets winning the Wild Card(just to pi** off the Yankees)
St.Louis wins in 6 over Tampa, with our old friend Chris Carpenter the WS MVP.
