The Ice Is Getting Thinner: Spring Training Week One in Review - Part I, Pitchers
Here at Bluebird Banter, we'll be following the hopefuls at spring training in their attempt to make the Jays. Here's how your corvid hurlers did in the first week of spring training. For brevity, I've not included every single player in Jays' camp, but have enough of them to make things interesting, I hope. And we haven't included players who are guaranteed a spot, barring unforseen injury. Tomorrow we will take a look at the hitters!

Hayhurst has looked so good....
you’d have to think he’d be one of the first called up if there is an injury to a reliever. He has a new post up by the way.
I’m with you, it bugs me that Cito doesn’t list League as a sure thing to make the bullpen. He has to be part of the team.
great post by Dirk
as always. I really hope he manages to find someplace to play. He looks great so far.

you think so?
I think he was pushed to do 2 innings before he was ready for it and tired at the the end of the second inning.
Not much choice
If Romero and Cecil were supposed to combine for 6 and only went 4, someone had to fill in those innings. Usually they only bring enough guys to go 10 innings.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
I say Clement and Cecil round out the rotation...
Doc/Litsch/Purcey/Clement/Cecil…
Richmond/Mills 6-7
If Cecil wins 15 we are in the playoffs.....
but no I very much doubt he’ll win 15….I am hoping that they don’t push his innings too much. He only threw 118 innings last year, any more than about 150 this season is asking for trouble.
I can't see how he wins 15.
150 innings would be, say, 6 innings/start over 25 starts. It’s very hard to win 15 games if you only make 25 starts, he would need to be really lucky.

Not to mention only pitching 6 IP / start
which obviously reduces your chances of getting a decision

true
I bet 6 IP/Start isn’t that far below the league average though.
