Looking ahead in 2009...
Jays are off to a great start...and I'm loving it.
IF they are in the race for a playoff spot what kind of moves do you think JP will be able to swing at the deadline for the stretch run, if any?
*Assuming McGowan comes back and is productive some point before the deadline* what about this?
- David Purcey + a prospect for SD 1B Adrian Gonzalez
Adrian Gonzalez has been a very productive 1B in a terrible hitters park in SD, he'd be a big upgrade over Lyle in my opinion and SD had a 1B mashing in AAA right now who is cheaper and they'd like to eventually make room for in Kyle Blanks.

The Idea is a good one.
Purcey will probably mature into a middle to back end starter. There may not be room for him in the 2010 rotation with Halladay, Marcum, McGowan, Romero and Litch. Plus Cecil and Mills projected to make it soon. Unfortunately I don’t think McGowan will pitch this year. We may be able to make the trade without him anyway depending on the performance ot Cecil and Mills. But Richmond will likely not last and get sent down so that will complicate matters. Gonzalez is exactly what is needed on this team for 2010 for sure though.
I'm sure if we are in the race later in the season there will be some trades....
way too early to know what we might do yet. San Diego is off to the same quick start we are, so they would have to fall off before they’d make a move. Right now our starting pitching is way to thin to think about trading one of them but never know what will happen the next 2 or 3 months.
