Opening Day

Just a few hours from baseball that means something....YAY. Can't wait to see Doc throw the first pitch.

There is one bit of news from Jay land; Matt Clement has decided to retire:

"I was talking to Matty," Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi said on Sunday. "His heart wasn't in it, you could just tell. He's come back from so much. He's come a long way, and I give him credit for that. I think he was just tired of fighting, to be honest with you.

It is too bad but I think Brent Cecil and Brad Mills have likely jumped him in the line to be called up if/when needed and Wade Miller may soon pass him too. He pitched this spring like a guy afraid to challenge anyone.

Opening day, lets have a poll:

Shame about Clement.

The Jays had a great season last year, putting arguably one of the top 5 teams on baseball on the field.

Unfortunately, they were only one of four top 5 teams in their division. But you can’t control for your opposition. I call 2008 a resounding success.

Let’s see if JP can build us another winner.

it's interesting

it definitely didn’t feel like a great season while it was happening, particularly the first half, but look back on the whole team and you see it was one of the better Jays’ teams that’s been put together. all the more reason the Halladay trade rumours seem silly to me, at least insofar as 2009. trade deadline 2010 if the Jays are out of it, sure.

Awesome...

Only on Sportsnet Pacific and Ontario. Thanks SNET. For those of us in the Prairies and on the East Coast, I guess we don’t count eh?

Going to have to try to watch online, but I’ll bet it’s blacked out in my “region” as I’m from Canada… and all of Canada is the Jays broadcasting region, thus we get blacked out from watching online.

Bad start to the season already.

Yeah....all Jays games are blacked in Canada on MLB.tv.....is stupid

thankfully some of us in the Prairies can get Sportsnet Pacific.
