it's about time
Okay, Blue Jays, let’s play ball!!!
Verlander
Given Verlanders BRUTAL season last year, I’m sure the Jays are all fighting their way to get to the plate ASAP
Was less of a problem under Cito
IIRC

I have a 4pm meeting
that frequently runs long, so hopefully the introductions take longer than scheduled.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
My favourite intro every year is Jesus Figueroa, the BP pitcher
he’s been around forever
couldn't agree more
I bet I would do the job for a heck of a lot less than they pay him
although in that case
players would have to get used to hitting 60 mph fastballs every day
I was never a pitcher growing up
but I think I could hit 60 back in the day. Spin, though, is an entirely different story
I HATE SPORTSNET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
guess what sportnet west gets to see?
prime time sports and flames this week instead of the season opener.
when will they learn NOOOOOONE listens to crappy sports radio? why would i watch it?
i understand a bigger market for a important flames game but can’t they at least show us the first 7 innings?????
you think there are enough Jays fans in Edmonton
to make it worth their while?
beats out prime time sports
and no oilers fans will watch “flames this week”
in fact no flames fans will…
I guess since Leafs fans will watch absolutely anything Leafs related
RSN assumes the same will translate across the country
Ah, Lister
Great 4 years of my life. Just wait for hockey playoffs to start, you won’t be allowed to suggest watching something that isn’t hockey. I hated Aprils in res for watching TV.
Good call Rince
Off to the bar to watch the game. I agree, Bob McCowan sucks; show the beginning of the game then move into the Flames game afterwards. Stupid Sportsnet
Add lineup by next week
Overbay
Hill
Rios
Wells
Lind
Rolen
Snider
Barajas
Scutaro
Or something like that. Space out the lefties and righties a little more. Move Scutaro and Barajas to the bottom. Bump Snider up a bit. They could even bat Lind 2nd, Hill first. Just no sense batting Scoots and Rod the Bod so above Snider
nice pitch from Verlander
but good at bat by Scooter
Hmmmm I hate when they say someone has put on a bunch of weight working out ....
that was always code for juicing
docs a trooper, I hope we do good for him this year

I keep getting calls that it's my second notice that my automotive warranty may be about to expire
I don’t have a car.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"

I like Barja better than Molina..
Bengie was a fatboy

I like Barja too
I value good d behind the plate and Barajas at least offers that. Molina has a good bat though.
P.S. I “love” aki berg too.

lol. Sure go ahead.

gutsy bit of running

Jay's are just hitting at will...
total control of the game

Half game up on the division
Run out the clock, boys!
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
It would be hilarious to cast this season
as a fight for first with the Orioles.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
seems like baltimore has the Jays number though?

We were 12-6 against them last year
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
I forget which analyst on MLB network it was
He was talking about how he’d played on teams where the stadium is packed on opening day and if you win it’s packed again, but if you lose there’s like 500 people there.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Spoiler alert
the MLB.tv feed is way behind.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Well what can you do?
Not like I want a 2 minute delay on my game.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
It's much closer to live with the HD feed turned off
Better for my weak work laptop too.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
someone sent me a note the other day asking how Lind would do this year
planning his Fantasy draft…..I’m looking like a genius
The kids are all right
Wow Lind and Snider good great tonight – it’s a long year but if these kids can play steady all year it might make up for the less than ideal production we get from the corner infield spots.
Touchemalljoe
Lind has already done something Rios didn't do last year
Hit a 3 run homer.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
its like there trying to hard, keep is it simple

The Jays play almost the first 5 weeks against the AL Central
If we can play strong in April against weak opposition, maybe Beeston loosens to the pursestrings a little to add some pieces that struggling teams decide to sell off?
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Eugene Levy on screen
Did they show Geddy Lee? Is he even there?
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Set up for Lind again
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
We need to chew up their bullpen
and set ourselves up for the rest of this series.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Yeah, an 8 RBI day would have been ridiculous.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
I would take that any day....
A little bit of ridiculous is sometimes nice…
"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." — Albert Einstein
Lind's OPS down to 2.750
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Overbay was playing way off the line on that one
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
you never know with Cito
wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Doc start the 8th
I'm sure Doc will have the option
but there’s a bit too far to go for him to get a complete game at this point.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
No CG
But I bet Cito trots him out for the 8th with a guy ready at the first sign of trouble. I think Cito’s gonna ride Doc hard all season to save the pen for the next 4 games which will probably be more unpredictable
I think Litsch won't be quite that unpredictable
His 2007 FIP was way above his ERA, but in 2008 it was definitely in the range where the difference could be explained by our good defense and not just by luck. (Apart from being lucky to have been drafted by a team that would have a good defense when he became a major leaguer.)
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
I'm with you with Litsch
although Cito isn’t really one to use FIP as a guide, so he may not be as trusting of Litsch as you are (at least not initially).
going 7 innings is good for any part of the season
we get kind of spoiled watching Doc go 8+ most starts. Most teams are thrilled with 7 inning starts. 5 runs isn’t good, but you can’t win em all.
Three straight breaking balls
Three straight swinging strikes from Overbay
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Overbay should not be facing LHP
unless, I suppose, we are up and need his defense.. Like here. Still pretty painful to watch though
Barajas almost got that one out to center
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Cy gets Granderson
Here comes League
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
is BJ still closing
even with his spring struggles?
If BJ can’t get it together, I’d love to see League take over the 9th
The job is his until he loses it
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Philly
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
he hit a rather important home run in the World Series last year
you might have seen it
Do we really need Downs in this game?
I guess Cito wants to start the year strong.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
A couple of ground ball singles
Okay, Downs can come in. (It’s a save situation now.)
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Does he finish the game out to get the save on his resume?
It’s not like he’d be taking one from BJ.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Hill's entrance music is Slow Ride?
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
I like the song
Not sure I like it as entrance music.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
I've actually noticed
that many of the Jays get different entrance tracks for different at bats in the same game. For example, IIRC, Darren Fletcher used to have the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but clips from both Give It Away and Scar Tissue (which was a fairly new track when he was with the Jays) would play at different parts of the game.
Of course, Raul Mondesi always had the Raul Mondesi Mambo
I remember Glaus used Crazy Train
Did he use anything else?
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Don't remember
some guys had the same one, others were different. I think Zaun had some Rush but also Linkin Park or something else of that nature
Good job keeping Scutaro from going to third on that hit and run
by Everett. I was worried Scoot would round the corner too far.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Loaded for Vee-Dub
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Odds of first pitch swinging?
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Takes it for ball 1
Thanks for playing.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Dropped by Everett on the grounder
and Lind gets another chance
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
The video feed froze
What happened?
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
flare single up the middle
only 1 run, Rios held at 3rd.
The pitch before, he jacked one foul. Thought he had another HR for a second.
Okay, I have to go
Somewhere I should already be. I’m sure they’ll understand.
"He almost has to start. Do you believe in miracles?"
Jim Leyland has pulled the Tigers off the field
apparently people have been throwing things onto the field, including baseball during play. Idiots.
I don't have access to the fangraphs data
but I have to assume that Lind is JotD
doc must've been ok
as by the time he gave up those runs the game was pretty much over
