It's a Psychobilly Freakout: GameThread for Toronto Blue Jays at Texas Rangers, 10 June 2009, 8:05 PM EDT
Toronto Blue Jays at Texas Rangers, Jun 10, 2009 8:05 PM EDT
Rained Out

The Jays look for their fourth straight win tonight, which would match their longest winning streak of the season (when they swept the White Sox in a four-game series at home). Ricky Ro is in the box for the Jays tonight and looks to build on his outing last week against the Royals, when he limited Kansas City to three runs over seven innings, despite yielding homers to Jose Guillen and Mike Jacobs, thanks to a solid 5 K : 2 BB ratio. That performance was reminiscient of Romero's three starts before he went on the disabled list, so hopefully he has begun a return to his early-season dominant form. Kevin Millwood tries to stop the bleeding for Texas and although his ERA (2.96) has been quite good this year, his FIP of 4.95 suggests that it's only a matter of time before his 5.2 K/9 strikeout-rate and 85% strand-rate catch up with him. Marco Scutaro gets the day off and everyone moves up one slot in the lineup with Mac batting ninth. Let's hope Cito doesn't hesitate to pinch-hit for him should the need arise.
There's been quite a bit of draft coverage on the site, so if you didn't catch the draft, now's your chance to find out who the Jays picked and when you might expect to see them.
Finally, in non-Jays news, Phillies leftfielder and former Mariner Raul Ibanez is very offended that a blogger concluded "any aging hitter who puts up numbers this much better than his career averages is going to immediately generate suspicion that the numbers are not natural." He offers his hair, blood, urine and stool, but I'm pretty sure the MLB Players' Association wouldn't allow them to actually test it. And yeah, he accuses the blogger of being a 42-year old in his mother's basement.

4-1 now
Wang just gave up a homer to the lead off hitter, looks like the Yankees will need to find themselves another pitcher.

Even though he plays for the wrong team, I like the guy – seems like a happy go-lucky kinda guy who loves playing ball.

It was funny to read the Yankee blogs and read similar to the 2008 Blue Jay grumblings ’bout AJ as last year.

Granted on the flip side of that, they are now firmly in the perfect bubble area. Close enough to babysit when we need it, and to not be overnight guests when they stay. But also far enough away that they aren’t everyday guests.
