Casey Janssen to the DL; Brad Mills to Start for the Jays on Thursday?

I still haven't heard anything on Downs, but Jordan Bastian has tweeted that Casey Janssen is going on the DL with right shoulder inflammation and that Brad Mills will be called up to take his place and pitch on Thursday afternoon.

This likely has more to do with the short notice and whose turn it is than Mills' performance for Las Vegas.  Mills is 1-8, with a 4.48 ERA and a 65/35 K/BB ratio over 76 1/3 innings.  He has given up 5 or more earned runs in 3 of his last 4 starts, though he did have a stellar outing two starts ago in which he struck out 11 and walked no one over 7 shutout innings.

As for Janssen, the evidence continues to mount that he is not sufficiently healed from his shoulder problems.  Here's hoping he gets some rest and feels better soon.  Originally, Ken Rosenthal had reported that Mills was set to pitch with Janssen moving to the bullpen, but Bastian says it's the DL for him, which makes more sense to me, though moving Janssen to the pen could make sense if Downs is expected to be out for a while.  More as we hear it.

Did someone put a curse on our pitching staff?

can’t seem to go a week without at least one injury.

i feel uneasy

about his 1-8 record…

it isn't bad

it hasn’t been trending well lately though, and his K/BB numbers aren’t great – almost 4.5 walks per nine, less than a 2/1 K/BB ratio. Good amount of Ks though

i wondered the samething

why not Cecil? The guy pitched 3 good games for us… had a rough one against boston… but still, the young lad did great.

no matter what happens this season… I believe he will earn a spot in the rotation next season unless he really blows during spring ball. But maybe management is preserving those young arms for next season?

I don't think so

he’s not even supposed to start swinging a bat again until July, last I heard. He has a shoulder injury.

Good grief Charlie Brown.

I just heard this news

I thought last season was unbelievable but this is just ludicrous. Is there any pitcher in our entire system who hasn’t spent time on the DL?

Halladay only had a short bullpen session

From Jordan Bastian’s twitter….
Roy Halladay did long toss for a few minutes and just shut down his bullpen session after about 15 pitches. Watching from the pressbox.

15 pitches? That can’t be a good sign can it?

'Oh, you can't help that' said the Cat 'we're all mad here'.

Its either a good thing (No discomfort)

Or a terrible thing (Something is wrong, very wrong)
