Roy Halladay
I like to think that Halladay will play his entire career with the Jays and then be inducted to the hall of fame. I may be dreaming but I like to hope he will look past the money and sign another contract with the Jays.
However, the point of this post is to discuss whether Halladay will win 300 games if he stays healthy.
Some interesting stats:
Halladay has 65 no decisions in his career
32 of them were blown saves by the bullpen.
He could have 172 victories by now but he does have 140.
He needs 160 more. At 16 a year he would have to pitch 10 more years. He is 32 this month.
I figure he will have to pitch until he's at least 42 years old.
If he gets to 280 or 290 he'll be close to making the hall of fame but 300 would guarantee.
I would like to see the Jays sign Halladay to a 10 year - 250 million contract. In 10 years, it will probably look cheap.
Go Randy Johnson! Gotta cheer on those former Expos.

Contract
How about if they offer him a 5 year 100 million dollar extension after this season (assuming he finishes as he has started). I would consider this below market value, but really shows some dedication from the Jays.
Vernon’s contract may make this impossible, but I sure hope Roy finishes his career in Toronto. I’d make the trip to Cooperstown if he ever got in the Hall.
I Pray they sign him
that said I would walk to Cooperstown if Halladay was getting elected.
Not happening...
He has a chance at 250 wins, not 300.
The Hall is going to have to change their level for pitchers very soon because 300 just isn’t a legitimate possibility in modern baseball anymore.

Roy is going into the Hall of Fame no question. He has the best win:loss ratio for anyone in the past 8 years i believe… and is just not slowing down.
the Jays need to sign him long term after this season but i dont know if it will happen. If the Jays dont make the playoffs i dont know if Halladay will want to stick around.
If Halladay doesn't make it
Then there likely won’t be any more pitchers inducted into the HOF. There just aren’t any pitchers who have performed better, for as long and consistently, as he has.
And if he doesn’t make it in 10-15 years, it will be because he played in Canada. Nevermind the fact that he had to pitch in the hardest division in baseball through his prime.

I’d have to argue that if Roy tailed off now and didn’t pitch well for the rest of his career he wouldn’t make it. Warren Spahn did make it though so perhaps Roy is already a shoe-in. But I would think he needs some more decent years until he definitely gets in. Blyleven is not in and he should be, but he’s not so there is some precident.

Well ya
But I’m running on the assumption that nothing major happens to his health and that even if he deteriorates, it will be of the expected age-related kind.

keep pitching 133 count games
and see how long his health lasts
