And a Bottle of Kansas City Wine: Game Thread Royals at Jays
Kansas City Royals at Toronto Blue Jays, Jun 7, 2009 1:07 PM EDT
After a couple of days away from all things Jay and a late night, early early morning I have nothing profound to say about the Jays. I did see bits of the Jays win over Greinke (yay) and heard some of the loss to Hochevar (boo) but that's about it. Hill's slide has made it to 25 at bats without a hit. Hopefully he'll break out of it big today. Lyle Overbay has a 12 game hitting streak going but still is hitting near the bottom of the order.
Jays have Halladay going today (9-1, 2,77) while the Royals have Kyle Davies starting (2-5, 5.20). We should score some runs today. I'm hoping Halladay doesn't get close to the 133 pitches from last start.
Today lineup:
Join me the thread.

The Jays need a proper 3B
Rolen cant play 2 games in a row it seems. He’s way to fragile… and Batista just sucks.

Rolen has played 49/58 games
this year, and has put up great numbers and plus defense. Bautista’s OBP is >400

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

But what if they bring in a lefty to face Lind and Overbay?
never mind that Lind has been hitting lefties just fine.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
and with the way Lyle is swinging lately
he can’t be much worse v LHP than Millar has been
has Hill walked during the slump?
probably a silly question.

on a errant pitch like that
which bounces off the hitter … can they still run?
I think they're allowed to
but it’s going to stay close to the plate
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
i was wondering, becasue if so, it would seem like the batter would try to “unintentionally” redirect theball
The catcher has a hard enough time reacting to that ball
and he sees them all the time.

i must admit
the way Lind looked at it after he hit it i thought it was gone… although Jamie seems to act like your average fan at the park standing up and cheering after every fly ball.

that's not true at all
he yells all the time on the mound (sometimes at others, but especially at himself when something bad happens). He just rarely shows positive emotions and won’t talk to anyone (including coaches, teammates, his wife and Mike Toth) on days when he is pitching until he is relieved
I think the no emotions crack was just a bit of a joke. Considering the running joke around the Jays Blogosphere that Roy is a machine sent from the future to destroy modern day hitters :P

I know Rios's throws have tail to them
but I’ve seen him adjust for it. I think it was at Oakland Coliseum when he was playing center last year, and it looked like he was throwing it to first on a ball to the gap. The ball took a left turn in midair and almost caught the runner at second.
