Should we ask Doc to pitch the final game of this series?

I would imagine some of us would be quite happy if Doc pitched on short rest the last game of this series. Maybe we should open a debate on whether such a choice may be worthwhile....but frankly we need to wait at least 48 hours before making this decision, eventually. There are two important games to play first, then we'll see......on the other hand, very good to hear that Lyle Overbay has been named AL Player of the Week and his 14-game hitting streak is a fantastic piece of news! By way, Adam Lind is 18 for 40 (.450 average) in the last 10 games!

I don’t think there’s any need. Halladay has just pitched back-to-back complete games and it’s still early in the season with the Jays very much in the thick of things. We’ll need him more urgently later in the season.

Granted, Texas is tough, but looking at Roy’s career numbers against the Rangers (7-7, 5.36 ERA, 1 broken leg) I’d prefer he didn’t pitch them unless it were his scheduled start and they promised before the game not to line anything directly at him.

Why let the Marlins off easy? I like Roy pitching to start a series at home, one would think it helps momentum, and it should certainly bring out the fans. Hopefully the attendance numbers in T.O. pick up, otherwise it’ll be tough to justify pulling the strings to bring in a player at the trade deadline or even to pay big money for Doc when his next contract comes up.

LOL, I like the 3rd stat you have posted there in his line

That’s the most important one to me :P

Why?

Its June, If it was August and Sept and were still in a dead race then yeah maybe sure.

But it’s June and it really just isn’t worth it to mess with Doc’s schedule.

Agreed

Absolutely no need to wear him out.

The fact alone that Texas is one of the only teams he’s not had good success against has me saying no. Also there’s really no need to do that. I wouldn’t minded having seen him pitch against the Red Sox or something, but not this series. Frankly, I was glad to see he wouldn’t be facing the Rangers at all.

Guys, you allowed me to recall an interesting footnote on Doc's 2009.......

…….sadly, we only won 1 out of 3 at home against the damn Yankees in May and it was a complete game by Doc, who hasn’t faced yet Boston this year though……so yes, better to have him start at home against Florida. I would love to visit Toronto again but since the trek isn’t cheap, I wish I’ll have to chance and an excellent reason to do so in October, my birthday’s month. I’m going to post some bits agbout tonight’s tough game shortly……

Best wishes to everybody.
