Bits from the STATS preview of Tuesday's game

Lyle Overbay is batting .444 (20 for 45) with 12 RBIs during his 14-game hitting streak and is 4 for 7 against the Rangers in 2009.

Let's hope these great numbers keep making us happy!

Brian Tallet has allowed 10 total runs in the first two innings over his last five starts!

Tuesday's start will be brian Tallet's first career start against the Texas Rangers but his career ERA is a very good 2.35.

Let's hope it keeps being so good but the first two innings can't be as much of a problem, we can't afford that!

An interesting series of numbers found on www.baseball-reference.com

In all five seasons in which the Blue Jays went to the postseason so far, the average age of the pitching staff as a whole was higher than the average age of the entire batting staff. So far this year, we are scoring over five runs per game (5.05 for a total of 303 in our first 60 games). In 1992, we had an average of 4,81 per game! Our 64 homers mean we are on pace for 173 (regular season, 162 games). In 1992, we hit 163. In 1993, we hit 159 long balls. However, defence is the key so check this out: since 1979, our team’s best fielding percentage was .986 (in 2008 and 1990). So far this year we are at .989 with 25 errors (on pace for 67 versus 107 in 1993 and 93 in 1992). Interesting!!!!!

I agree the team is good and is a great fielding team, but I fielding % is such an over rated stat (See Jeter for reference).

But I still agree that we are having a great year.

i assume HR and runs scored have increased MLB-wide, though.
