Lets take our minds off this crap: Favorite Jays?
So, I figured I'd make a more positive fanpost here and try and not think about how we manage to lose all these close games and whatnot, not to mention the whole Halladay saga.
Whos your favorite Jay and why? Roy Halladay is a given so he doesnt need to be on the list, neither do guys like Joe Carter etc.
My list, in no particular order:
Gustavo Chacin: Weird delivery, cool name, and he had his own cologne. What more can you want?
Brandon League: Always reminded me a bit of Ricky Vaughn out of Major League. Throws hard and has amazing stuff but a bit wild at times.
Johnny Mac: Amazing D, plus hes come up with big hits a few times when nobody has expected anything from him.
Matt Stairs: Drinks beer and hits homeruns.
Dustin McGowan: Not sure why I've just always liked him the most out of our pitchers (behind Roy).

Good idea..
Huge fan of Reed Johnson..loved all his weird things he did stepping into the batters box, wasnt afriad to take one for the team at the plate..and had that weird facial hair..not to mention he read fly balls extremely well
Easy
Sal freaking Fasano. I had a bunt hit a couple years ago and I fell out of my chair.

- I love Hill and I have since he started with the big club
- I have also liked Lind from his minor league days. I was at the Game in TO two years ago where he won the Jays award for Minor League hitter of the year or some such thing. There is a running joke in my house that whenever he gets a big hit I yell out “I like that Kid” and I’ve done it often enough that my wife does it now too.
- Molina was a bit of a favorite of mine too 2 years ago. When he hit the triple and got up and pointed into the dugout I lost it laughing.
PS – I love the League/Vaughn comparison, that’s awesome.

great topic
Besides Doc, John Olreud and Jimmy Key are my favourite all-time Jays. I also loved Catalanotto.
For current Jays, again besides Doc, Shaun Marcum and Adam Lind come to mind as I watched them come up with the team and break into the big leagues and that has really been fun. Scott Richmond has become a favourite as well, tough not to root for a guy like that.

I also
really like Brandon League as he’s pretty much a one-of-a-kind player, and that’s always fun to watch. No one else pitches like he does.

When he's on, there is noone better

Paul Molitor (was money when he was here), Jimmy Key, Al Leiter, Pat Hentgen and the 1992 bench players (Derek Bell, Sprague with the homer in Atlanta) were some of my favorites from back in the day.
Slightly more recent, but not including players on the team now: I always liked Billy Koch and Jose Cruz Jr. Yeah, neither guy turned out but when they first came up I thought we were really building something.
That Sprague HR was awesome
I remember they kept flashing to his super hot wife Kristin Babb (Sp?) after he hit it. Weird what we remember…

oh yeah
Kristen Babb – 1992 american gold medalist in synchronized swimming. They must have shown her more than Sprague that series. What a fantastic homerun in a key spot though.
Heck she was featured on everything. I have an old VHS tape that recaps the Series and she was shown all the time on that.
A Canadian Living BlueJay magazine that featured their favorite home cooked meals and she was in there too.

YAY! Someone other then me,
My wife gives me weird looks whenever I watch that tape.

I knew the first little bit of that 1993 tape by heart for a while
The Toronto Blue Jays had reached the summit just one year ago. Now in their quest to return they featured a new cast: men who knew how to win, men with consistency of coming up big in big games. ..
A Nation of Masochists The waiting is the hardest part but the truculence helps.
Shannon Stewart, he always had a smile on his face and a good attitude. Orlando Hudson, cool character and his defense is next to none. I know you’ll call me crazy but I’ve always liked Wells, regardless of how brutal he’s been this year. Frank Catalanatto, dunno why but I loved watching him hit. Also, Aaron Hill, Shawn Marcum, Johnny Mac (nice guy, and a great attitude despite not playing regularly). I didn’t follow the Jays back when they won the WS and such, I was only about 10 at the time, so I can’t say much about players from those days.
Rance Mulliniks
that guy was super clutch for a late inning hit … for a while it seemed like he was winning every game for the Jays
Inglett (2008)
utility player hitting near 300 - hope he gets the bat back in 2009
Tony Fernandez
unbelievable fielding — just amazing range in the field and the ability to make the off-balance throw to get the out …. great
plus, great extra base hitting and hitting in clutch situations
Freddy McGriff
I loved him as a player was sad to see him go however the trade did really work out for the Jays.
As for current Jays it’s gotta be Lind and Snider (who’s getting hotter in AAA now)…they could be quite the middle of the order duo in a few years.
I'm not a big fan of "rental players"
But Winfield and Mollitor were unbelieveble.

He my favorite player of all time but a big cog in 92 . I think winfield still holds the record for being the oldest player to hit 100 RBI in a season.
But all time Jay with longer then a year service would be Dave Steib. I still remember is no-no vs Cleveland great day for jays fans. Oh and Exhibition stadium was awesome…Bleachers FTW!!
neither were really rental players
John Cadelaria, Bud Black, Tom Candiotti, David Cone, Tony Fernandez (in 1993), Ricky Henderson, etc. are the real rental players (in my opinion). Molitor played here for 3 or 4 years and both winfield and molitor signed here as free agents and wanted to be here.
Gord Ash Days.
Billy Koch, Loved seeing him hit 100MPH when I was a kid.
Raul Mondesi, Big Bat, Cannon Arm.
Jose Cruz Jr. He had that 5 tool potential right?
Carlos Delgado, An Automatic choice.
Riccardi Era
Aquilino Lopez, Great RP name,
Shaun Marcum, Filthy change, came out of knowhere I remember going to see his first start as a Jay, http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore;ylt=AokAZ6qoaeFSoUMILhIqttiFCLcF?gid=260718114 before he broke out in 2007.
Reed Johnson, Was at the game he led off and walked off the game with home runs. ylt=AoJZwwNLlYHzMoY2HYtMsc7JbQM6?gid=230615114" target="_blank">http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore;_ylt=AoJZwwNLlYHzMoY2HYtMsc7JbQM6?gid=230615114

fav Jay
Past Jays
Roberto Alomar – 1st blue jay inducted to baseballs hall of fame ( 2010 class)
Junior Felix – loved his speed
Tony Fernandez multiple Jay
Duane Ward – automatic still holds club record for saves in single season
cureent jays
Aaron Hill – when all said and done will be the best 2nd baseman in jays history
Marcum – bulldog
WAMCO
White – “The Catch” would have been more memorable was it not for a bad call
Alomar – Simply the best Jay ever
Molitor – I loved his batting stance, his class and the fact he lived in Toronto.
Carter – it’s amazing how much he was loved despite his crappy average.
Olerud – .363
A Nation of Masochists The waiting is the hardest part but the truculence helps.
...and for a couple months, they where WHAMCO
With Henderson!

these guys were awesome....
PITCHERS
JIMMY KEY: Best southpaw this organization has ever had..Super control and consistent…
DAVE STIEB: What a career he had here in Toronto. His slider was his best pitch, it was nasty..
TOM HENKE: Without question best closer we’ve ever had…he always got the job done…
INFIELDERS
ROBERTO ALOMAR: What a treat to watch this guy play…solid on defense and a very intelligent hitter…
CARLOS DELGADO: Best first baseman we’ve had here, huge mistake when we let him go….
OUTFIELD
JOE CARTER: Favorite Jay for sure, he could really hit the ball a long way…
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'

Jimmy Key, Tom Henke, Juan Mothereffin’ Guzman and Pat Hentgen.
To be honest, there are too many Jays to name. How about the entire 92/93 roster?
Supporter of the Sergei Berezin "Give and Go" - You give me puck, then you go to hell
the entire 93 roster except...
Dick Schofield and that other putz that played SS before they trade for Tony. Thank goodness they traded for Tony Fernandez that year!
