Dry Your Tears and Walk Outside, It's the 4th of July: 7/4 Game Preview and Thread, Jays at Yankees
Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees, Jul 4, 2009 1:05 PM EDT
Happy Independence Day to all you Yanks out there.
The Jays look to get on track after dropping the first game of this four game series this afternoon. The offense has really been sputtering, with another rough day yesterday in which Vernon Wells provided 6 of 13 of the Jays' total bases from his new home in the 6th hole.
Roy Halladay pitches for the Jays and hopes to get better run support than last time, while Chien-Ming Wang pitches for the Yankees. Wang still has a 2-digit ERA but has looked better recently.
Also, the Yankees are commemorating the 70th anniversary of Lou Gerhig's famous speech today. The Iron Horse is by far the greatest Yankee to come from the Big Apple, so I'm always a little surprised he's not better regarded by Yankee fans.
Anyway, let's go Jays, and thanks to the great band X for today's title.

Wang hasn't been all that bad lately
and the Jays offense hasn’t been all that good, so it’s not a foregone conclusion that they will score a lot. It is a good chance to get the O back on track though, I agree.

Positive thinking, I'm trying my best to do this
Otherwise I get too frustrated watching the Jays get blanked by crappy pitchers that have career games against them.

is based on a welch drinking song ? Wales is part of UK (by choice or otherwise) so that is probably not that big an issue?
which came first, God Save the Queen or My Country Tis of Thee? if the latter is later, I would say it is inappropriate … it would be like UK penning a song My Kingdom Tis of Thee based on the Star Spangled Banner …. just not appropriate IMHO

I don't know if it's even noticable.
Didn’t he grow up in Louisiana too?

I liked Da Ali G show when it was on

by plen on Jul 4, 2009 5:06 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Would you be shocked?
I can see Steinbrenner having a mechanized gate/vent installed that diverts the flow of air during visitor’s at bats and then opened during theirs… Hmmmm…

nice play by Chavez
to jump out on that bunt and get the lead runner
and why was Cano bunting on 3-0?
by SuckaMD on Jul 4, 2009 5:12 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
What a terrible move
3-0 bunt??
Damn I’ll take the FC tho any day!
by plen on Jul 4, 2009 5:12 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
it wasnt a bad move
Texiera should have ben running, it was either a Bunt, a Foul, or a walk…theres no reason for him to be standing on 2nd he broke way too late, shoulda left with the pitch…very lucky break
by bowling_kid25 on Jul 4, 2009 5:13 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
was a terrible move with 3-0 count...you have to take that pitch
by Tom Dakers on Jul 4, 2009 5:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
and looked obvious that it wasn't called...or the runner wouldn't have moved back...
looks like he ignored the take sign
by Tom Dakers on Jul 4, 2009 5:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
WHY? If the runner is going who cares, its a walk, a foul or a bunt...it was dumb to not run, tahts all
by bowling_kid25 on Jul 4, 2009 5:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
not dumb not to run when you know he's not supposed to bunt that....
when you know he’s got the take on, you don’t leave the bag because only thing that can happen is you get picked off
