Wow!

Do they still have to pay his entire salary for the next 2 seasons?

by masterkembo on Jul 8, 2009 3:50 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

yes indeed

this season and next, that is

Minus the major league minimum

if another team signs him.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

right

which someone almost certainly will, but we’re talking $.25 M this year and $.5 M next year

More salary relief than we were going to get for him otherwise

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

most likely

it is possible we could’ve unloaded him in part of another deal if we ate some of the money, but not very likely

Boy

Between BJ’s salary, all the players on the DL’s salary there is alot of dead money Mr. Roger is paying out.
Hope this doesn’t hurt signing Doc.

I don't see how it would

Most of the players on the DL now are getting the major league minimum

I don’t think any of them were even arbitration-eligible.

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

Dead Money and Mr. Rogers? I really hop that wasn’t an attempt at a pun….

Haha

Not intentional anyways.

Riccairdi quote on tsn today...
“We have kept him from free agency twice and I don’t think we have the resources to keep him from free agency a third time, so I have to investigate what is out there,”

Sounds like they’re preparing for no Doc because they won’t be able to afford to keep him after next season.

if Jays have to trade Halladay

i would like to see the deal include Wells’ contract

now, i love Wells as a player, but his contract may be too much …. so if folks want Halladay, maybe make the deal to include Wells’ contract

is that possible?

by aagoodfella on Jul 8, 2009 4:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not without ruining the entire deal.

To throw in Wells Contract that means we have to a significant amount less back and it doesn’t help our team.

that would be so sad

if the main value we got from trading Doc was unloading a bad contract we freely entered into

Nice to see Downs coming back too

Lose BJ, Downs comes back….good day.

Downs instantly improves the bullpen

quite a lot, which is a very good thing.

It gives it a defined structure

Which I agree, is a very good thing. Starting pitcher goes 7, Frasor in the 8th, Downs in the 9th.

Good move.....

I thought there was a chance after that story about him not getting playing time. Is ok to be bad, isn’t ok to be bad and complain.

Is he taking calls?

Can we ask him by Millar and Dellucci are still on this team?

They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

I'm not listening

But I’m assuming roughly 99% of the calls are about trading Doc.

Seriously, though, I always liked Ryan – too be he started sucking the second year into his contract.

by Blue and White Expat on Jul 8, 2009 5:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Who gave the seal of approval

How will they spin the Ryan scenario, was it Lacava or Ricciardi that put Ryan into action? Sounds like another miss!
