You Should Have Taught Him a Lesson About Being Rude: GameThread for Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees, 16 Sept 2009, 7:05 EDT
Toronto Blue Jays at New York Yankees, Sep 16, 2009 7:05 PM EDT
Hi all, in a bit of a rush so just a quick thread tonight and the Pedro the Lion-inspired title says it all.
Brian Tallet gets the start against Chad Gaudin. Moonraker bats 9th, I guess two homeruns wasn't enough. Let's go Jays!

I think it will be back to status quo. Yanks have too much to lose.
Ms. Priscilla Posada will not be catching tonight as she sits out her suspension. Good riddance.
Will Carlson be able to pitch 3 gaems hence?
Yep
Probably the best thing that has happened to his arm in a long time

They just showed the stat
8 times in last 5 vs Yanks. Thats rediculous.
I never saw the Ruiz one when it happened, but they just showed it. It looked awful…tough to watch

Oh well, No Millar
For a guy who is hitting under .230, I don’t mind Bautista.

It would be awesome if Cito had someone up in the bullpen already
So Tallet could crank Arod

if he keeps this up
he could be at Replacement-Level by year’s end
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
jose molina has a good arm
if it had been posada he probably would have
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
wow, if Edwin hits like that next year
that would be awesome
to state the obvious
Nice to see Wells hit the ball well the last couple of weeks...
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
sorry Edwin
that was just an awesome pitch …
something about Tallet's side burns that doesn't intimidate the opposition...
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
lol...good one ! No maybe just a rabbit's foot in his pocket will do...
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
Very professional, Girardi....Posada is a clear idiot..
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
What did everyone think about the brawl last night?
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
this ump knows that it's Tallet vs. Gaudin
he has really expanded the strike zone
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Just got home from work...where is Ruiz
Bautista did make a nice throw home yesterday and hit an HR…but urgh, why isn’t Ruiz in there.
wow, Bautista
really auditioning hard near the end of the season here
That's why Bautista is in the lineup...
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
Utility is the kind of role suited for him...
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
lol, ironic here
that it is the pitchers getting hit tonight
If..
this keeps going pretty soon will have another brawl, where the pitchers will be charging the batters..
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
hIll could have easily be two for two...
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
i don't care how good his bat is
i care how well he’s swinging it
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
i do not care how he swinging it
i care how he connects with the ball
Greeting Communist baseball fans
On behalf of Red Sox fans, wanted to thank you for last evening. The sickle, hammer and leaf was well represented. Kudos

sorry dude, i cannot look at any more of your videos
these are not the kind of visuals I ever want in my memory
I am merely testing you to see how you react
You have passed the test. I can now trust you.
Victimized. But still here.
I was...
shocked last week when I heard Cito Gaston say Barrajas was not going to be in the team’s plans next year..Very inappropriate timing…
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
Cito knows, if a new president comes in, it's probable he might not be here as well next year...
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
One: We don’t know who will be the next president. two: Who ever it will be, he might have a different state of mind coming in in terms of who he wants as his field manager…
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
I guess I would conclude the following. If a new President is appointed than it will be up to him/her select a GM. Either bring in a new one or keep JP. Than, the new GM can decide if s/he wants to keep Cito. Even if the new GM decides that Cito is not the right guy, they stil might keep him around during a transition period through 2010, when Cito will likely retire anyway. For that reason, I think it is slightly more likely than not that Cito does manage next year, but beyond that, I do not expect so.
I also think there’s a good possibility Cito will be back in 2010..But realistically, I don’t want Cito back. His old managing philosophy is passed by the game of baseball. We need a fresh and aggressive baseball mind…
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
I agree. My key point of disagreement over his managerial style would be a lack of proactiveness or aggressiveness. When pitchers are struggling he is a bit slow to pull them out. I think he should use certain batters more … Ruiz and Snider, most notably. But other than that, he is ok, keeping things steady and working – some basic stuff that can go underappreciated at times.
Nice work Camp!

Teixeira still not worth the $180 million
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
that was like — forgot his name Deion Sanders — they gave him crazy money. It was like, even if Deion is the greatest cornerback in the history of football, he is still not worth that much. But such is pro sports.
It's not...
really a question of whether or not any of us care how much money these guys really bring home, but more of a point that no athlete is worth that kind of money…
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
of course no one is worth that money...then no one is worth what the top guys of GM make too.
athlete’s like the rest of us are worth what someone will pay.
sports and acting are two of the flaws in capitalism, IMHO .. however, it is still a better economic system than the others
salary caps keeps things reasonable and more competitive (NFL and NHL) but folks still find ways to work around it … for example front-end weighted NHL contracts that run longer than a reasonably expected career length
If it was a hundred times harder to speak to a hundred people as to one
we wouldn’t have entertainment or education.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
it's not like it makes a difference to the yanks really, if they win it all he's worth
whatever price
scoot was playing him way in the 3b hole there
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
That at-bat was shaping up so nicely
but apparently E5 remembered we had a runner at third and less than two outs just in time to screw it up.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
rod . . . you swing at everything else
but not that?
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
He made contact
How many clutch hits are crappy texas leaguers off the end of the bat? All of them, that’s how many.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
i understand that
but why not just bring in a righty to face bautista?
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
3rd pitch ruined that AB
after that he was all on the defensive
Janssen? What will become of him coming next season?
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
YES broadcasters
“in the ’30’s there was no Tommy John surgery. There wasn’t even Tommy John.”
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
I have been wanting to do a post for a while
but am at an impasse as to what it should be on
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
It's been tough for a bit.
I’ve been wanting to go thru the minor league teams, one at a time but haven’t had the time
i was thinking about doing one on when power develops historically
. . . go through all the players in the 500 homerun club and see when they started to really slug
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Well if you're in the 500 club
it can’t have been too late.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Yeah
Obviously dealing with guys generally in their lower 20’s. But I think with the modern era, there would be guys who hit their “stride” a bit later
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Would you suggest taking a look at players who hit between
250 and 400 or something like that?
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
yeah
the point is basically just to figure out when to expect guys to really develop their power. Like, is Aaron Hill normal right now? Is Lind? When should we expect Snider to really start mashing?
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
that's why I only wanted to do 500+ guys
I am not looking forward to the research at all
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
yeah doing just the 500 homer guys would give you a good enough number...
I’d worry a little that steroids might fudge the numbers a bit
I like what they are doing..they are not intimidated at all by these 'bronx bombers."
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
good situational hitting by Hill...
"Sports is something you know, not something you should preach.'
maybe he has Lind on his fantasy team
and he needed the RBI
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
darn it
this was my worry with Janssen. hopefully he doesn’t fall apart
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Looked like he spun his wheels getting started
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Accardo was always one of those reverse splits guys
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
And look at their lineup
If you get the platoon matchup now, you’ll give it up later.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Damon was 0 for 11 against Accardo career, apparently
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Accardo was our closer that one year
and Damon’s been in the division as long as we’ve had Accardo.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Rather have Hairston up for them than anyone else
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Until I heard that RISP number
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
yikes
that pitch scared me
looked real hittable
Well, I'm off to game night
on a positive note.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
they can barely use him as a starter next year
unless they want him to pitch a lot more innings than this year
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
majors + minors this year is about 100 innings or so right now
and he probably shouldn’t pitch that many more than he already has
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
should have just left him out the rest of the season when he hurt his toe

Im confused...
MLB just showed Snider as Bunting.. That can’t be right…
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
Pat should just record his spiel about Rivera's cutter,
it’s the exact same every time
YES broadcasters are hilarious
Michael K is saying that the secondbase umpire screened rivera which is why they didn’t get the dp
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
So what were the highlights this game?
Missed most of it and don’t have the TV at the moment…..
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
overbay had a nice double into the rightfield corner
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
the lowlight was a homerun by Hideki Matsui
to tie it up last inning off downs
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Bah
What was the injury delay it said on Gameday?
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
tallet had a toe injury i think
they removed him after the second. and unfortunately the YES broadcast didn’t really say anything useful about the downs injury — they said elbow but I’m really not sure.
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Yeah heard about Tallet being hit. Wasn’t sure about Downs though.
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
i can't believe the freaking pen held it to two runs until the eighth inning
and the game is going to end on this crap
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
i wouldn't call him the goat, then
that would just be bad luck on his part
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
i blame tom
this happens every time i do the recap
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
hate hate hate
Hate the damned Yankees
