Maybe we could start with the second inning? Jays lose to Rays.
Another sad efforts against the Rays. Jays finish the season 4 and 14 against the Rays. Roy Halladay gave up a 2 run homer in the first and that was all that was needed. Other than the first, Doc pitched well, not allowing another run in his 7 innings. Jesse Carlson gave up a homer in his inning of work, after his 3 game suspension.
Offensively, we did nothing, other than another homer for Edwin Encarnacion. He has power, that wasn't a cheapie. But since that's all we got Doc took his 10th loss of the season and his 4th loss to the Rays, the first time any team has beaten Doc 4 times in a year.
As well as the loss, Marco Scutaro left the game with a heel injury. It is possible that he will be gone for what's left of the season. If he is, he's had one of the best season's we've ever had from a shortstop.
Jays of the Day is Doc (.120 WPA). Suckage Jays are Vernon Wells (-.179), Rod Barajas (-.114) and Jose Bautista (-.110).
We start three games at home against Baltimore tommorrow. David Purcey (0-2, 6.32) goes against Chris Tillman (2-3, 4.50).

It's sad to see Vernon take the suckage
considering that he scorched a linedrive with two out and loaded bases in the top of the eighth after an 11- (I think) pitch at-bat.

that was a great at-bat
unfortunately it ended poorly

With the way things are going...
I hate to say it but if things go this bad next season I will be glad to see Doc go to a team that actually has a shot of doing something. This is ridiculous, Doc deserved better than this. Takes another loss because his offense can’t do squat. Now the Jays need to beat Baltimore to avoid finishing in the cellar of the division. Who would have figured that 2 months ago?

This is yet another reason why pitching win-loss record is crap
It makes people say things like, “Doc deserved better than this.”
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

It is not about win-loss record it is about the club
It is because there are players on the team that are like sitting ducks and are waste of batter spots and don’t deserve the salary paid to them. It all starts from the top, from the inept management. The players he chose don’t give Halladay run support at all and some players pretty much gave up when they took their bats to the field. Doc deserved better than this.

He's paid a king's ransom to play in a city he likes
and ownership hamstrung management this offseason.
