All I got to be is, be happy: Mariners at Jays Game Thread
Seattle Mariners at Toronto Blue Jays, Sep 24, 2009 7:07 PM EDT
A three game win streak makes life seem that much better. And with the win yesterday we can't finish last.
We have a tough one today with Felix Hernandez pitching for the M's. Ricky Romero gets the start for us. Romero hasn't been as good as he was early in the season but he has 15 quality starts on the season, which isn't bad. Funny for a lefty he has a lot more trouble with lefty batter, the and a .552 slugging average against him, while righties have only slugged .370. Today's lineup:
Yeah no Ruiz yet again. And Jose leading off....good, good, good. Adam Lind has had a nice run of late, he has 32 RBI in the last 33 games. A few of the bats are coming around. Vernon's had a good September and Bautista, Encarnacion and Snider have done well the last few days. Even Lyle Overbay has a 8 game hitting streak going.
Rod Barajas gets to have a day off so his 0 for 19 gets to wait for a day to add to his 0 for streak.
The thread title is from another George Harrison song 'Blow Away' that I had a great fondness from when I was younger, that was on a self titled Harrison album, one of the first LP's I ever bought. Not his best work but very enjoyable music.

As an everyday player is bad enough
but why exactly is he leading off?
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
him, joey votto and carlos beltran
are probably my favorite non-jays
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Thoughts about him in the BP?

shouldn't be surprised
he was supposed to be ready last May. He just has a sprained knee. I know it was worse than that, but the knee injury was probably a good thing for the arm.
Haha, missed it by JUST A BIT

Rance is so full of it sometimes, it's hard to take....
yeah Ichiro would win a home run contest….and once I was the king of Spain
Now the Leafs call you up to drive the Zamboni?
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
yeah...an arts show, he's a good interviewer.
course there is a great video out there of him trying to interview billy joe thornton and thornton didn’t want to talk.
overhand curveball....
as opposed to the underhand one?
I assume overhand means straight down
rather than more diagonal but not quite a slurve.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Too bad 2008 didn't work out.
Will we ever get back to that feeling of
Halladay
Burnett
McGowan
Marcum
Litsch
I know Burnett throwing a madball to a mediocre hitter for a 2 run jack
brought me close to tears.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Who are you
and what have you done with Vernon Wells?
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Didn't look good on those first two strikeouts
but he seems to be hitting the ball hard. Even when he would get hot earlier in the season — as Torgen pointed out at the time — he was getting a lot of cheapie infield hits
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Wasn't there a hamstring thing in spring training?
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Hill should have thrown to the bag
Ricky could have been there if he didn’t have to slow down to take the throw.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
After a 12 pitch at-bat
Just kidding, it was the first pitch.
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.

Actually must be career
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
But career numbers for current Rays
not franchise numbers
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
i think you can say that TB does ok against Roy, but certainly do not have Roy’s number
more like Ray’s pitching staff have Jay’s Bats’ number
does Griffey have a kid
it would be nice to see a Ken Griffey the 3rd
Now we just need a Chavez-bomb
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
we might get a bunt situation for johnny
fingers crossed
Really holding Snider
They're not just hitting home runs. They're doing the little things, like hitting doubles.
Giving Mac the free 1-0 count?
