I think your fielding metric suffers
from only looking at UZR. You’ve got Aaron Hill as a poor defensive second baseman in 2009, and he just won the fielding bible award for 2009. I’m not saying Dewan, Bill James, and the rest couldn’t’ve also been wrong, but other metrics rate Hill much higher. I also think Wells probably isn’t this awful in the field, he started off terrible but seemed to improve as the season progressed.
