Derek Jeter asking for 6 year, $150mil

TSN's baseball reporting is suspect at best, but even if this is remotely true its a farce. Lets cut the deal in half and say its 3 years for a total of $75mil. Thats still a long way from the 3 year, $45 mil offer thats on the table.

I really hope this is the end of a legacy in New York. I'd love to see Jeter get his 3000th hit elsewhere

Regardless of what happens, it’s nice that the whole ‘Captain Yankee’ mythos has basically been killed by the Yankees front office. Jeter is now being derided by Yankee fans as arrogent, greedy, selfish and dim; an egomanic who can’t bear not being superiour to A-Rod. That should mute the usual hyperbole in 2011, especially while he’s chasing 3000.
