Chris Davis
The player the Jays need is Chris Davis, of the Texas Rangers. He is a plus defender, at first or third. He is a left-handed power bat. Yes, his average needs work, but this is the kind of buy low player the Jays love. If Lawrie can play third, Davis plays first. If Davis plays third, the Lind-Encarnation experiment can go at first. If it does not work, move Davis to first and Bautista to third, for the rest of the year. Davis is 25 and has great upside! I would not mess with Gordon, with Davis out there, and Texas looking for catchers, which the Jays have, in abundance. Davis is blocked by Moreland(first) and Young(third). I would look at Justin Smoak(ex-Texas, currently Seattle), if you really want potential, at first. After Davis and Smoak, I would look to Cincinnati, where they have Alonzo(first) and Francisco(third) who are blocked by Votto and Rolen.
And to think, only one year to wait for Papelbon!

Him and Mark Reynolds were working on it simultaneously...
I'm thinking that when the Leafs win the Cup, I'll lose my drinking problem.

Smoak was the center-piece in the Cliff Lee trade..
Who exactly were you planning on giving up to get him??
Alonso will cost a ton as well, Alex Gordon is the best candidate on your list.
Thoughts
First off he is not a plus defender at 3B. I am not sure where you got that information but scouts agree that their is a reason he was moved to 1B. Not too sure why you think the Jays would go after Papelbon but I can assure you there is no chance.
Dewey and KBR are just.......too........sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!

Uh
I agree with the other objections as well, but I’d like to add:
Blocked by Scott Rolen? I’m not sure any team in the league would find themselves in a position where they’d have to play Rolen enough to take away time from a future star. He’s at the end of his career and certainly wont be blocking anybody two years down the road.
If the Rangers sign Beltre
and then have to move M. Young over to 1B/DH what does that do to Chris Davis?
Maybe the Rangers would want to dump some payroll.
Is it time to bring back Michael Young so Gord Ash can be forgiven for the worst trade in Jay’s history?
Even a mistake may turn out to be the one thing necessary to a worthwhile achievement
