Kevin Gregg?
Doesn't seem to be a fit with the Jays since our bullpen (especially the back end) seems to be full...

I saw Jordan Bastian twit about that....
Gregg gave up a ton of homers last year, but strikes out a guy an inning. Here’s his career numbers. I really don’t see the point in spending more money on the bullpen when we have a gaping hole in RF. What do you all think?
Haven't you figured out that I'm going to refuse to use the accepted terms yet?
I think there’s something wrong if a grown man wants to use proper twitter terms.
Oh come on! you run a blog! Your down and hip with the cool kids.
Hey! Did you see Parkes rated us over here at BBB as a C-? All because we are too professional?
Boycott DJF!
Life as a Toronto Sports Fan?... *sigh*... It is what it is...
WHAT?
Unprofessional? They are such poo-poo-pee-pee heads.
Ohhh Brett...One more year! One more year! One more year!

What's the point of disseminating information
if you don’t have 93 commenters saying “fuck off parkes”
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Seriously though, I barely ever venture over there anymore because it seems like a drunken frat half the time. Im not saying that is horrible, but definitely not my cup of tea

Yeah I saw it....
(shrugs shoulders) I don’t know…the fun here is the comments. Over there I can’t read the comments.
Indeed
I’m a big fan of the DFJ mostly, and I think they do some very funny, very top notch writing. However, it is a broadcast medium only, unlike, say, Batter’s Box or here which are places to interact as fans.
agreed
though i can’t recall interacting with a dexfarkin at the BBox.
Weird...
…unless he’s leading off and playing RF…what’s his slashline?
Knights, Canucks, Dolphins, Jays and Raptors all the way.
career 4.16, 23-27, 85 saves, 476 innings
last year 4.72, 23 saves, 72 games, 68.2 innings, 30 walk, 71 k. Held batters to a .229/.312/.427 line.
Thanks Tom…was trying to be funny and ask what HIS hitting slashline was…my humour never comes across well at the best of times, let alone electronically.
Regardless, I still don’t think he’s worth the money for the Jays.
Knights, Canucks, Dolphins, Jays and Raptors all the way.
Whoops should have realized.....
Batting…he’s 0 for 6…about the same on base Jose Bautista has against RHP.
Move would be ok...
We´re in rebuilding modus…
For sure the Jays can get something back for Frasor ´n Downs… Gregg is ok for one year… or you even can give Dusty the chance to close…. looks like his body was made for a bp-job….

Looks like it might be happening...
or Ken Rosenthal says it is anyway.
I don’t know I guess we’ll have to see the terms. We do seem to be collecting power arms for the pen. I’m hopeful that it would be just a one year or one plus an option type contract. I really don’t understand spending money on a closer with other holes to fill.
Gregg
Some possible scenarios, AA thinks that:
a) he’s better of signing Gregg and trading another bullpen asset (i.e. Frasor, Downs, Accardo, Tallet) to fill other holes … which may be true, either now or later in the season at the deadline.
b) he can sign Gregg cheap for 1 year, and if he has a bounce back year you might be able to offer him arbitration and get draft pick(s) for him … he was a type A this past year, but the Cubs declined to offer him arbitration b/c he had a down year. Even if he’s just type B next year that could be a solid pick.
c) both of the above
All-in-all I think it’s a low risk move.
caveat
I say it’s a low risk move not knowing the details yet, I’m assuming it’s a short term deal likea 1yr deal or 1 yr w/ a mutual option or something.
I can't imagine it would be more than 1 and an option....
The guy gave up 13 home runs last year and had 7 blown saves. Frasor and Downs had 7 blown saves between the two of them, with 8 home runs allowed. So I don’t know that it’s a step up in the closer department.
It’s definitely b), which fits AA’s modus operandi, with a possibility of a) happening too as I get the impression that AA will probably pull off another trade between here and say April.
I agree that it’s a low-risk move as it gives us another guy that can compete for a key role in the bullpen, and the money doesn’t sound like a big deal.
$2.75MM /1 yr (*%&^^$#@%^&!)
With options that could equal $12MM? AA must have a major deal in the works. I hope.
from twitter:
SI_JonHeyman
reliever kevin gregg has $2.75-mil deal with blue jays that contains 2 options and could make him close to $12 mil about 3 hours ago from web
I watched a few Marlins and Cubs games over the past couple of years
and Gregg is extremely unreliable, from what I’ve seen. Very prone to the gopherball, and can blow games in streaks.
Not trying wish any ill will on Toronto of course, but if and when Gregg comes into games against the Yankees, I’ll be licking my chops.
Bad Move...
Gregg completely lost it mid season. Also, $2.75 mill? That’s $2 mill too much. We’ll see how this move plays out ie trades because, as it stands, it’s a bad move. It’s not like the team is lacking in righthanded closers (Accardo, Fraser) or right handed relievers (Merkin, Janssen).
I have to say this is AA’s first move I don’t agree with at all. Yuck.
