Joey Gathraight or Travis Snider

That’s like asking, “would you rather win the lottery or have your foot sawed off with a rusty steak knife”

No brainer.

hmmm
It concerns me how you placed the words…
Is gathright the lottery or the process of the foot being sawed off?

Ithink the only real camp battle coming in was for that fourth bench spot. Right now it is between McCoy, Reed and Gathright and I’d handicap them in that order. I think gathright’s MLB experience works against him as opposed to in his favour for a non-contending club.

Despite the rhetoric from management, Snider would have to be in areal funk for the next three weeks not to make the team.

I think you're right

I’ve always felt, and still feel, that Snider makes the club unless he looks completely lost at the plate by the end of the spring. He’s already starting to look more comfortable there. I just wanted to reflect that I saw him at the outset of camp as a lock and his position has arguably slipped a bit over the past 10 days. But I still think he easily makes it.

snider has to step up

he’s getting a shot tomake something happen and he hasn’t performed so far. the deffense is there but what he needs to do is hit and thats what the jays need him to do. if he were hitting he could be moved to 5th behind wells and it would make things that much better. as for now he will need to be in the 9th spot and be productive there..lets hope

J.P is built like a bull

I hope he makes the team. He’ll give us some much needed offense out of the C position.

how many bench spots are we expecting for position players?

four? catcher, infielder, outfielder and then a utility guy? if thats the case, i would think molina, reed, mccoy and ruiz would make sense. while i don’t love molina, i doubt arencibia will really get a chance to make it out of st so i’m thinking molina’s almost a given unless you think chavez is gonna make it. for outfield, if snider makes it as a starter, then its essentially gathright or reed and between the two, reed has shown way better so far.
