Roster Moves: Aaron Hill Activated and Brett Cecil Recalled for Friday.
After the game there were a handful of roster moves. Aaron Hill comes off the DL effective Friday. Also Brett Cecil will be recalled Friday to start that night's game. To make room Edwin Encarnacion and Brian Tallet are both going on the 15-day DL both retroactive to their last start. Edwin's last game was the 14th and Tallet played last on the 17th. So at the end of the month, we'll likely have some interesting decisions to make.
Tallet has "tightness in his forearm" and Encarnacion has a sore shoulder.
I'm looking forward to seeing Cecil, he was throwing very well at the end of spring and was 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in Vegas.

Great news
We’ll certainly need Hill in Tampa.
I’d like to send Tallet back the pen and send Merkin Valdez back to AAA.

Can't send Valdez down
without exposing him to waivers. I’m not sure it would be that big a loss, but Accardo has an option left.
Valdez
I dont think has anymore options left so he would have to go through waivers. Not that it matters if he is picked up by someone since he isnt helping us. Correct me if i am wrong.
Tightness in forearm?
Isn’t that the first indication that Tommy John surgery might be on the horizon? I remember they said the same about Litsch and Marcum prior to their Tommy Johns.
Tightness to Tommy John? Whoa.
I think I will wait until I hear Dr.James Andrews before I start thinking Tommy John. Otherwise I will think its a bit of stiffness that the Jays are taking advantage of to call up Cecil.

bleh is dead right about Litsch and Marcum
“forearm tightness” are scary words to a pitcher

Well yes I didn’t say he was wrong about Marcum and Litsch but its such a vague description until I hear someone is off to the specialist I won’t jump to any conclusions.

I agree no need to rush to any conclusions
I’m just saying that’s how it started with Litsch and Marcum, and lots of others. There was actually an article a few years ago about the mysterious and ominous “forearm tightness.” But of course sometimes a forearm tightness is just a forearm tightness

a 110 inning jump and forearm pain together do not bode well. it isn't that far a leap of logic at all.
not to make light of the situation, but
so much for all those innings he was supposed to eat
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
I wouldn't be surprised if Cecil pitched well and stuck in the rotation.
And I’m not disappointed in Encarnacion going to DL for now. I want to see more of Lewis in LF and Bautista at 3B. Excited to see Hill coming back. I think he’s gonna go on a tear.
Tough series coming up though. It’d be great if the Jays won the series, but realistically if they can win one of the games against TB on the road (and with Garza in the opener), it’s almost a small victory.
He's dominating.
Again.
Outside changce at 30 wins?
Damn hinske just got a hit.

got out of it, though
he seems to have fallen behind in the count a bunch last couple of innings
"Look at me! I'm Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos!"
Why would you hate to say it?
I’d swap EE and Tallet for Eric Hinske and Miguel Bautista.
Ok, that might be a slight exageration
