If you are like me the name you don't recognize is Christian Colonel. He was a 5th round pick by the Rockies in 2003. Made it up to their Triple-A team last year. Plays corner infield and outfield spots, a little power a little speed. I'm figuring we signed him as a minor league free agent. Doesn't look like a prospect.

The starting rotation looks to be Cecil, Mills, Ray, Gonzalez and Broadway.

I'm not sure, either - is it possible he picked up an injury

and is rehabbing at extended spring training or something?

I can't find that but I'll believe....

I see Kenny Rodriguez, Vincent Bongiovanni and Sean Shoffit on their DL…..

ah thank you

Lots of people were asking last night at the game and we had no idea.

hes not on the roster here

I met all the players in double-a yesterday including those on the dl and he wasn’t there. Unless its a bad injury and he’s not coming for a while…

The coaches

Has never really occurred to me, but how do the in-game duties break down with just two coaches? When the team’s at-bat, I’m guessing they become the base-running coaches. Then when it shifts to the team on defence, the pitching coach switches over to the bullpen and what not? If so, must be a bit schizophrenic for him.

Nice to see long-time Syracuse Chief Chad Mottola still with the organization – is this his first year coaching AAA? I see that he was with our Gulf Coast League team in 2008, but not sure where he was with us last year – roving?

And Dave LaRoche is coaching a Jays AAA team for the second time, having coached the Syracuse Chiefs way back in 1987. I see a trivia nugget that he’s likely the last player to throw a eephus pitch.

The roster

Here’s a handy-one page roster card from the team with more info.

Was going to ask what the AAA roster size limit is as I count 27 players instead of 24. But I see from that roster card, that it’s 24 plus three guys on the DL (Collazo, Figueroa, Aguila).

Curious to see what the starting lineup is on Thursday.

For the record:

Padilla, J CF
Hoffpauir, J 2B
Wallace 1B

With Mills as the starting pitcher.
